Morton B : will this scan and digitize my old black and white 2 1/4 by 2 1/4 negatives?GREGG B : This scanner does a great job with B&W negs. My personal preference is to scan the B&W negs as color images so I can use color adjustments to get toning effects. I have some 6x7 and 6x9 med format images that look great as digital files. I think you will find this scanner does a good job with B&W negs.ROBERT M : this will scan 2 1/4 in. X 2 1/4 in. (6cm X6cm) negatives and transparencies, color or black and white; as a matter of fact it will scan up to 6 cm X 7cm, possibly as long as 6 cm X 12 cm strips of film 2 1/4 in.X 4 1/2 in. It will also do 35 mm film.
Shopper : How do we find replacement or extra film holders for this scanner?JAMES H : Don't know.WILLIAM M : With my Nikon scanner I am using a modified Nikon holder and two pieces of glass from Focal Point. Wm. Mirchell
Mike P : Do the Nikon Super Cool Scan 9000 accessories work with this unit (film holders, etc.)?ROBERT M : I don't know the answer, but you can call them at 505-424-0384 and ask themGREGG B : Mike, I cannot answer for the Nikon scanner. The Pacific Image film holders seem proprietary, are tight friction fitted to the space, are smooth-edged, and DO NOT match the Microtek scanner I have at work which has tractor feed guide edges. One word of caution on the Pacific unit: make sure the film hold-down bars are fully engaged in the lock position or they can make it extremely difficult to remove the 120 film holder once it is inside the machine. Otherwise, no complaints for the system.
