I have been using the Pentax K-01 since 2013. I have loved this camera, its feel, build and its color. It takes great photos and videos and the build quality is just another level. It does not have a viewfinder which is a big miss. However, the LCD is doing a good job. The IBIS works very well. I have the yellow one and it is beautiful. I also ended up getting the Sigma 30mm f1.4 art lens and it takes it to another level. The lens is very sharp and being Mirrorless, I did not have any autofocus issues whatsoever. After the software upgrade, the autofocus is good. I love the camera and its feel in my hand and that is all that matters.

The mark newsome designed body looks very cute ESP with its special 40mm xs lens. The wide iso range is also great, so in theory you could get good shots in low light. Unfortunately the reality is that the CDAF only autofocus system hunts quite a bit esp in low light, so it takes longer to get the shot off than with my old k200d or with my Sony hx20v. Not totally surprised it lasted in the product lineup only a short time

A lot of people were unhappy with the design, size, and the lack of a viewfinder. There were concerns about the autofocus performance too. However, the camera has one major positive feature - picture quality! If you know what you are looking for in the camera, this one may be a great bargain at the current price. The firmware 1.03 drastically improved the focus performance. The camera is bigger than other mirrorless cameras, but is does accept all the Pentax lenses produced since the dawn of times, and the pancake lense it comes with is very compact, making the overall dimentions acceptable. As I said, it all depends on your personal balance of positives and negatives... In my opinion, minor inconveniences and small design issues are well compensated by the quality of the picture and ability to use a wide variety of lenses. Plus, it has an on-screen focus assist feature for manual lenses and a great battery life.

This is a 2nd Pentax camera, other is DSLR. It's easy to run. Buttons are far enough apart to push one at a time. Manual lenses work well. In camera HDR is interesting and handy at times.Low light focus is very poor. Stabilization is pretty good.Nice screen, still hard to see in daylight. Rubber door may be a problem later. Camera handles well. 40mm lens is pretty sharp.

I'd expected to be fairly ho-hum about this camera. I have several Pentax DSLRs, and I picked this one up as much for the 40mm pancake lens as for the camera. What I found though was a camera that is a lot of fun to use, with a lovely sensor. Focus peaking makes manual focus on my old M and A lenses at least as easy as it was with a viewfinder, while sensor and firmware is leaps and bounds beyond the k20d and predecessors for dim, weird light. With all of this, the battery showed no signs of flagging over a weekend of heavy use. It just makes the sort of photography that I do more fun.
