I purchased the camera before taking a trip. Worked very well, easy to use. The controls allowed quick changes as needed for different lighting situations. Quality of pictures was excellent. I was concerned about the battery life using the AA batteries however I took over 1,000 pictures and still show a full charge on the indicator.Camera is light and easy to handle. Definitely would recommend.

Cannot express how much I love this camera. It's my first step up to a Dslr and it's amazing/ The shake reduction feature is great. It's lightweight, easy to use. Just excellent!!

We bought this camera for our son as a gift and he is very happy with it. He loves the feature where you can change the color filter on a shot. It's so nice I will probably get one for my husband for his birthday. It's a reasonably priced upgrade from our current "point and click" digital cameras. I was also very happy with Adorama when ordering this- it came quickly and without any problems.

For the price I've been very happy with this camera. A friend bought a Nikon for about three times this price and so far our photos compare favorably. Her LCD is larger, the lens optics are sharper in some cases but I can match her shots pretty well.

Generally speaking, this camera is the best choice for beginner since it has low price but relative high quality. Also, for its small volume, k2000 should be a good choice for female SLR users. However, I'm not satisfied with the 18-55mm lens in low-light condition, for one thing it will cost longer time for auto-focus, for another, the limited diaphragm F3.5 seems not enough to use without flashing. However, this lens is still the best choice in its price-range.

This is my first digital camera of any sort. I am amazed at all the possibilities for use. At the rate I use it, I am sure it will take a while to master the full range. I have read two books since acquiring the camera to help me along. The pictures I have taken so far of my wife and grandson have turned out great. As an amatuer, I am very happy with this camera. It is the second purchase I have made form Adorama. [...]

Great camera for first time DSLR user. Help function is great! I have only owned this camera a couple of months and I love it. A huge step up from my K1000. You can do so much on camera before you print. Shoots jpeg and raw, great versitility. It can be used as a point and shoot full auto or go manual to get the effects you want, my preference. Light weight. Just the camera for me, it will handle all my needs and more. You can't beat the price for this kind of quality! Shoots beautiful photos. I will be using this camera for shoots, I will still keep my K1000 as back up. (Not ready to give up my 35mm yet.) My only problem is that the camera feels just a bit too compact for my large hands, all the brands I looked at did!

Have owned Pentax film cameras since 1983. I have always been happy with the quality of the equipment and images. So, when it came time to (tentatively) go digital, I stayed with Pentax. Primarily because of the backward compatibility of lenses and accessories. I have not been disappointed in any way. It feels like a Pentax. Compact, yet solid. The LCD is bright and can be seen in the brightest daylight. The controls are well laid out, and very intuitive.I like that it doesn't have a top side LCD to read control settings. It makes the camera more compact.I do prefer the larger readout of settings on the LCD screen.I also don't mind the lack of live view on the LCD. It even has a built in help feature. It hunts very little in low light. Battery life seems to be quite good. Have taken over 500 images, some with the built in flash, and am still using the batteries it came with. I think this is going to be a great relationship!

The K2000 is one of the smallest, lightest camera bodies in its class.
Additional features include a 10.2 megapixel CCD, a 2.7 inch, 230,000 dot-high resolution, wide view LCD panel and an ultra compact design that facilitates one handed operation. The body also features the Pentax developed Shake Reduction and Dust Reduction. In all, the Pentax K2000 system is, quite simply, ideal for digital SLR beginners.
