Shopper : Does this work with the Canon G1X?WILLIAM R : This finder will only work with the Ricoh.DANIEL L : I don't know about compatibility with the G1X, but I can tell you that the vf-2 itself is pretty lame as external finders go -- far behind Olympus and Sony finders. Ricoh users have been hoping for a long time that the company would come up with an improved model. In fact, the finder was one reason I gave up on Ricoh's otherwise nifty GXR modelFRED J : It only works on the Ricoh GXR. No EVF works on the G1 X. I have the Canon G1 X and have never needed a viewfinder. The foldout screen works very well in most lighting conditions. I hope this helped. FredSTEPHEN N : I seriously doubt it....each camera company has its own connector. My suggestion: buy the Ricoh camera for use with Leica M mount lenses. It's a fantastic tool. The VF-2 makes a great camera awesome!

I love the GXR camera system. My one complaint was not having a viewfinder. The LCD panel alone is just not my cup of tea. I get better camera stabilization and no issues with sun on the LCD when I use a viewfinder. The quality of the VF-2 does not disappoint. The image is crystal clear and contains none of the distortion that I have found on other EVF's. The focus adjustment allows me to take pictures without my glasses. The VF-2 also allows for a bit of a tilt to make it easy to use at an angle. The fact that it slides right into the hot shoe is brilliant. Of course, this means that you cant use the VF-2 and an external flash at the same time. But the pop-up flash on the GXR is very adequate and I only use an external flash indoors where the use of the LCD panel instead of the EVF is a compromise I can live with. The VF-2 comes with a compact case that attaches securely to the camera strap and is so small and light weight that it is almost unnoticeable. There is no need to carry a camera bag (unless you want a different lens unit) which is why I take along the GXR on many outings instead of my DSLR. Great Viewfinder

I bought this viewfinder for my husband as a gift for his new camera and he was overjoyed with how well this viewfinder works. He said it cuts down the glare tremendously and said he would not have been able to take pictures at the airshow without it. Amazing and great viewfinder would highly recommend this item for your camera.

Great help in and close-up situations

This electronic viewfinder is a great aid when photographing outdoors in daylight situations or in brightly lit indoor situations. Also good for close-up viewing at conveniently adjustable angles.

Better Than the LCD

This is an absolutely necessary accessory if you will be shooting outdoors in bright light. The alternative is the hard-to-see LCD on the back of the camera. Although better than not having a viewfinder at all, this one (& most others like it from what I've read) produces a "video-like" image that is less than perfect. It takes a little getting used to, but is still the best option for accurate composition and evaluation. A bit pricey, but there's nothing else available.
