Samsung's compact 30mm pancake lens (white) is the brightest in its class. With its 30mm fixed focal length and maximum aperture of F/2, you can capture exceptionally bright images even in low-light situations such as shady forest paths and indoor weddings. You can also create striking, images with shallow depth of field in a variety of settings. And since it's incredibly slim and lightweight, you can take it with you everywhere.
use it for pictures in auto.. manuel for video!! it looks real sharp..
Love this lens , on the NX300 you have a compact ,lightweight carry it all the time camera. I added an aftermarket Optical View Finder to the NX300 that improved my ability to quickly snap a photo without viewing the image on the LCD
Use without flash in lower light conditions, out performs my Nikon 50mm f1.8 on my NX300. Makes the NX300 almost pocketable, while capturing excellent images. You can't beat it for the price!
Research NX lenses and you'll find near universal love for the 30 f2 pancake. It is tiny, light weight, and optically great. Giving a near normal FOV it works great for general photography. This lens makes an NX camera a wonderful and serious upgrade from a P&S camera without having to add huge size. The f2 aperture will earn its money in lower light where a P&S will struggle and/or us its unflattering flash.
Optical quality is really good (although the bokeh isn't pretty). The AF is slow and tends to hunt a lot (or just fail). It's therefore pretty useless for video unless it's a static shot and you manually focus.
I like it, very nice addition to the samsung system. Can't wait for the new lenses to come out
Great family camera! Such a compact package with the NX100. I keep it at ISO 400, and with the aperture of this lens I can get great photos without any problem. Very sharp lens.
About two years ago I decided to upgrade from a point and shoot camera to a DSLR-level camera. At that time the new interchangeable lens cameras came out. After much deliberation and online researching, I decided to buy the Samsung NX with the 30mm pancake prime. I couldn't have made a better decision. Samsung has delivered on that and provided a high quality design, made mostly of metal that has lasted my use and abuse over the past years. With most prime lenses, image quality is superb, and the 30mm NX is no exception. Famous photography blogs reaffirm that the lens is, for all practical uses, aberration and distortion free, with great sharpness throughout the frame across the aperture range. On technical grounds, the lens is virtually flawless. Although I am a novice photographer, the 30mm lens has frequently provided me with exceptional pictures that I share with friends and family. (once my skill improves, I plan on submitting to contents as well) With this lens' compact size, I can easily carry my NX around my shoulders all day, barely noticing the weight. Whenever I see an opportunity to shoot, my NX is always within reach. Portability is another quality of the 30mm At F2, this lens is very useful when it comes to photographing in low light. Although it is not perfect for shooting in the dim light (then again, what lenses are?) It's large aperture allows me to capture moments that I would never have been able to capture at all. Because of this lens' quality, I will definitely invest in the upcoming 85mm and 16mm NX lenses (if they are in my price range) All in all, if you own an NX camera, this is a must have lens. And if you are thinking about getting an NX camera, this should be your first lens (and maybe a zoom on the side ;)
I think this is a "must have" lens for any NX camera. The portability and quality of the lens really complements the NX10. Super sharp, and produces lovely portraits.
Outstanding performance: nearly zero distortion and razor sharp. This lens is so small the NX100 becomes almost pocketable when it is attached. I only wish it included a lens hood in the box and had an i-Function button. Highly recommended and much loved.
