Seems s far to work like my previous A55 SLR, I like the play memories recall for pics already taken and to select to print or send via email.

I bought the camera 2nd hand to learn about photography. This is a small camera but is packed with everything you need to take great photos. My next challenge is to take astro pictures.

I bought this camera a year ago, I had been using a higher spec DSLR from an other brand, but I very inflexible. The a5000 gave me the ability to use a wide range of vintage lenses, features such as photo peaking and focus zoom complete the perfect system to use with old manual lenses.

I bought it second hand, body only. I only use it for pinhole photography but am very happy with the results. My only real complaint is that it's not possible to switch off the fake shutter sound. I do low-down shots but it's not possible to tilt the screen vertically when the camera is on its side, but as the free Sony app Imaging Edge Mobile on my phone acts as a wifi remote control with viewing screen, that is not a problem. The free Sony Imaging Edge Desktop software for desktop computers is very easy to use for developing the RAW images, so I'm very happy with this hardware/software combination.

I received it as a birthday present a few years back, now I am shooting art films and taking ab-fab pictures for marketing and art class webinars. Great easy to use camera which can do much more than I knew. I totally love it and would look at buying a newer version should anything happen to this one.

At this point this is about 4 years old camera. It works well even after taking tens of thousands images with it. However, I wish Sony would support their cameras a little longer with firmware updates. For example, Sony has enabled PDAF focusing point use for third party lenses / adapters on their a6300, a6500, a7ii, a7iii and a9 models bot not on a5000, a6000, etc model. Even if the models in question do have some of these on their sensors. Design wise, the size is excellent, although even while it has built in puny flash it could benefit from external flash hot-shoe as well - there seems to be enough space on top of the camera for it. Grip could be a little deeper as well by at least few centimeters. It would not increase the camera size with lens attached as the kit lens is 30mm thick and the thinnest lens I'm aware of is 20mm thick - so there is certainly room for improved grip size (while keeping the overall footprint the same so fit into the coat pocket if feeling like it). Menu system could be a bit more logical or there could be a custom menu option where you can put the most often used dozen or so options in a custom easily accessible location in the menu somewhere. Unfortunately the menu is like it is. The RAW format Sony uses is .. uhh ... I do not like it at all. Its proprietary and even though most programs support it nowadays this is an hassle. There is no option for lossless compression even in their high end cameras not to mention this one. Only option is lossy compressed raw in this camera (or lossless but for some bizarre reason uncompressed raw in their high end offerings). A bit better than shooting jpeg but really .. other cameras I have (like Pentax) do a lot better job in this regard in my opinion. Native E-mount lenses are more expensive than many of their competitors. Not having in-body image stabilization is a significant drawback compared to other cameras I own.

I actually brought this camera around 4 years ago to sample a interchangeable lens camera as it was selling at a competitive price. I must say its a great small and light CSC which suites me as my other passion is cycling and I take this camera with me most of the time . The large sensor produces some great photos and I am very pleased with them . I have since brought a couple of additional lenses (35mm 1.8 f) and a 20mm wide angle lens and I have now upgraded to a Sony A6500 which is a great camera.

I've had it for a while but I use it very little because it will drain the battery when it's turned off. It drains it about 30% per hour. That's terrible.

after reading the on line reviews i was happy to purchase this item. Howerver having started to use the camera I found that not withstanding the product could be connected by the app so I could use the phone as a control. I find after 3 days of trying that not all sony cameras are compatable. and this appears to be one of them so I am unable to use the mobile for control. I am also disapointed that the screne is not digital so on a sunny day it is not get a clear image on the cameras screen.

As a gift this product is currently well beyond my photo capabilities, so it's a little daunting to go 'off piste' with various settings in case I can't find my way back!

I bought a5000 only few weeks ago, but already very satisfied and excited too much to find right words for that camera. It's perfect product for entry level. And next my camera surely will be Sony again.

My A6000 is a great all purpose interchangeable lens system camera but my daughter wants to do a vlog on our upcoming holiday. With the lower weight and flip back screen she will be able to do her vlog easily and won't need to borrow my A6000. The compact 16 to 50mm lens will be perfect for most of her work and she will be able to use my lenses too. The only real downside to both the a6000 and a5000 is the lack of control of microphone level so when you stop talking all the background noise immediately comes to full volume. Perhaps in time Sony will bring out an aps-c model with flip back screen and controllable audio, a Mike and headphone jack would really be good too. Unfortunately too many camera manufacturers go all out for great photo and video quality and control of its capture and then neglect how important sound is. The A5000 is a really nice compact system but if you need an external audio recorder all that compactness and convenience is lost.

Bought this product as a second body for my NEX5. It has features not available on my NEX5 including WiFi connectivity and the capacity to download specific apps such as time laps etc. However I have found the standard lens to be less sharp when used in the maximum zoom and I have lost a number of images because they were fuzzy. The standard manual zoom on my NEX5 is sharp throughout the zoom range. This is most definitely a snapshot camera and I don't find it up to the standards I require. The selfie flip up screen is a gimmick that is far less useful than the multi position screen on the NEX5. The absence of a viewfinder is a serious deficiency as in bright light it is difficult to frame the image on the LCD screen. Given the choice again I wouldn't buy one

I usuallly use a Canon DSLR T6 Rebel in Travel and sometimes want a smaller, more portable camera. On recent trip, comparing photos on both, I was disappointed with my Sony, i.e. not as sharp or crisp; just lacking zip

I bought this early so I can practice before my holiday. At the same time I’m doing a weekly photography course on line with a view to get off AUTO. So far so good, fits in great with my course, easy to understand and takes great pictures

I bought this as I wanted a travel camera smaller than my DSLR but with the flexibility of interchangable lenses and a great sensor. This does it all at an affordable price. It also has great HD video capability and with the flip up screen would make a good travel vlogging setup small enough to be discreet.Haven't travelled yet so will wait and see how it stands up to wear and tear.

Camera looks and feels professional. Haven't used extensively yet, still a lot to learn. The automatic setting makes point and shoot so easy. Images are fantastic. I love that I can transfer images to my smart phone or computer without wires. Perhaps could have done with flash unit that could throw light further.

Bought this camera 6 months back to take around on my treks and other trips. Stumbled upon this compact camera on my friend's recommendation. I have enjoyed my time with this one and would surely buy a better one in coming years.

Great Camera

This camera is all about small size and great large sensor images. It is the smallest camera with an APS C size sensor with a zoom lens at this time. You need to hold it and compare it to the A 6000 and others to appreciate it's smaller size. If I don't wear tight pants like blue jeans it fits in my pocket easily. I have used this camera for over 2 months, taken over 2,000 stills and 10 minutes of video. I don't work for Sony. It is loaded with an extraordinary amount of manual and automatic ...

The Sony Alpha A5000 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Silver) includes refined capabilities in a pocket-able size that makes it is easy to get beautiful pictures almost anywhere. Features include exceptional image quality from the large APS-C image sensor, fast focusing thanks to a brand new BIONZ X processor and interchangeable lens capability. NFC (Near Field Communication) enables single touch image sharing with compatible mobile devices or direct connection with Android and iOS devices via Wi-Fi.
The same sensor format that Sony builds into the full-sized Alpha DSLRs gives the ILCE-5000L 13 times the area of the typical point-and-shoot image sensor. APS-C sensor size delivers an exceptional combination of high resolution, high sensitivity and gorgeous, blurred backgrounds to give even simple shots an artistic touch.
