I will use remote mostly for portraits, so I can move about and talk to my subject. The remote works from All positions except within 4 inches from the immediate back of the camera (nex7), where you course wouldn't need it. This was my only hesitentcy in buying it (from reviews here), and I didn't need to worry.

Works as advertised. Note that only two button actually work in shooting mode, the rest are for playback purposes. It works remarkably well for an infrared remote. Indoors you can point it almost anywhere you want to and it still works, as least in my experience. Outdoors it might be a little different. I wish it had more functionality while shooting, but oh well...

Good product, lightweight and straight forward in its use. I received this for use with my new A77, even though it's Sony "Alpha" comparable , make sure your model accepts IR. My other body (A350) doesn't. The biggest advantage is this remote is less than half what the Sony remote cable release cost.

Can take photos including the operator. Can easily control the exposure by sinultaniously observing all conditions

I bought this for macro work but the sensor on my a580 is on the front of the camera. Best application is being able to include yourself in the picture. With all the buttons shown, only the shutter works with the camera, everything else is for TV slideshows. Great gadget but the camera's 2-10 second shutter delay works just as well.

I shoot with the a850 and use only Sony lenses and accessories. I bought the wireless commander last wk and wasn't pleased with the shutter button. It won't let you lock your focus first it just instantly takes the shot. When I have my Sony fisheye lens on it won't snap any shot. Not sure why. The bulb setting does work well with this device.

My comments concern the compatibility, but also frustration for being led to believe it worked. Because the "compatibility" section of the RMT-DSLR1 displayed the a35 as a compatible camera, I purchased it at my local shop. I took time to make it work and engaged in reasonable troubleshooting efforts: e-mailed Sony (Cust. service did not respond to my specific questions, only told me to call a number during certain hours); searched online for solutions; purchased new batteries b/c the instruction sheet warns that the included battery may be dead. I finally spoke to someone at Sony's service department. He politely apologized for the misinformation on the website. Unfortunately, I spent too much time trying to research it before calling and I may not be able to get to and return it to the camera shop. Compatibility with a wireless remote was a feature I was excited to have and the misinformation represents one of several irksome things that I've experienced related to my recent purchase. (Perhaps I should call the service number for assistance before I purchase another sony product). Anyone need a remote and batteries that are not compatible with other electronic devices in my home?

It could be a little larger as my fingers touch more thab one button during operation. Otherwise it,s great.

This is the only remote that works with the Sony A380, but I thinks it's great. Does everything I wanted it to, and has made my macro super steady & clear.

Very easy to use. Compatable with A230 even though it isn't listed as such. Sony ease of use.

Can't be beat for the price! I have used this remote on my Sony Alpha 230 with telephoto lens to photograph the moon with excellent results.

The Sony Alpha MT-DSLR1 Replacement Wireless Remote Commander for the DSLR-A700 & DSLR-A 900 cameras is the same wireless remote supplied initially with the cameras.
