Great little camera that adds zoom capability to your smart phone in a little package. Smart to put a tripod mount for stand alone shooting.

The camera is very useful for shooting images from restricted or otherwise awkward angles or for getting candid shots of people who don't like their photos taken. It can't be used on an iPhone 6 Plus unless you remove any protective cover you're using and then is no better than carrying a real camera. If not used on a tripod (small, of course) or placed on a table, it's hard to line up with the subject, particularly if shooting down at a magazine or paper. At least I have problems coordinating that kind of shot, maybe it's just me?

My iPhone provides great photographs on-the-go, but it doesn't provide the capabilities for serious photography or video recording. Enter the Sony DSC-QX10! It mates perfectly with my iPhone while still in it's case, it provides a 10x optical zoom, a low-light shooting sensor, optical stabilization, 18.9 megapixel photographs, 1080p/30 video recording, and a tripod mount! The only thing that could be better is the wireless integration: perhaps it could utilize Bluetooth in addition to WiFi.

Very cool! Sony is remains the world's best electrons company. The iPhone attachment is different from a handheld camera, though once familiar with its operation you can achieve remarkable results. This attachment operates also as a remote system so it can be used as a security monitor and can be operated from a tablet. Best that the purchaser understand complex cameras.

just bought the QX10 and tried to connect it to my Samsung galaxy note 3 Android 4.3 via NFC but it doesn't work.

I tried my QX-10 the other day for the first time with my iphone. The camera itself works great as far as quality. I purchased it because of the 10x zoom. I compared it to the iPhone's zoom and the quality was fantastic. Unfortunately, thy software is TERRIBLE! It's in dire need for an update. I kept having to exit the app and re-launch it, then reconnect the camera. The app should also allow the use of the phones' flash. I'm going to keep using it over the next week or so and hopefully I won't return it. I think it's a great idea and if you can improve the app, I think you'll have a winner.

I bought this to work with my iphone5, and it does. it can get frustrating using it at home as every time I turn it off, the iphone will sign back onto the home wifi, so to switch back to camera/lens I have to disconnect from home wifi via setting first. I’ve found that it’s less complicated when I’m not at home, connect once and it will reconnect every time. I was most hopeful for the superior low light quaility over my iphone. the wife and I took it to a dimly lit sushi restaurant where it did perform well, but we did a side by side comparison (zoom all the way in on details) and the advantage over the pic she took with her iphone5 was nominal. I’ve not yet found how to adjust the date stamp, first day I turned it registers as Jan 1st, and then Jan 2nd etc etc. I do look fwd to using this at ACL next week. I plan to use and extension pole to get it above the crowd and will still be able to use iphone as viewfinder.

It's working hard, not fast as I was expected. My iPhone camera taking shots faster than this camera. For example if you want to take a pic something real fast you can't cuz of very slow concentration of camera.

Photo results have been good, sometimes impressive. However, the iPhone interface is awkward, at best. Examples: 1) Each shot fired, the image comes up for review, but stays there, requiring the extra step of pressing 'return' to get back to shooting mode. Thus, you cannot shoot quickly. 2) Setting-up to shoot, each time I must open the app, switch on the camera, close the app and enter settings to 'find' the QX-10, return to the app & reopen, at which point it 'finds' the QX-10, connects, and is ready to shoot. This suggests it was designed to operate properly with Sony NFC phones, but Not with iPhones. Awkward at best. 3) Camera jams. An image will 'stick', without ability to 'return' to shooting mode. Requires closing the app, rebooting app, app 'finding' camera, to recommence. In short, nothing works smoothly. In conclusion, possibly a software upgrade, a rewriting of the app, may establish a workable 'flow' between iPhone and the QX-10. Until then, you may call me disappointed.

Awkward to handle with phone. Not easy to hold. Freezes when trying to use Zoom on phone. There is no way to review SD card in camera without inserting into computer. Slow lag time between camera and phone. Sony lacks good information on using the camera. Can't take rapid pictures with this camera. I have the RX 1R and Rx100ii, so there is no real need by me for this product. I just received authorization to return. Normally love Sony Cameras, this is the first time I am disappointed.

The DSCQX10 is the perfect companion for my iPhone. Used for what it is, a well thought complemental utility, consisting of a middle level point and shoot camera with zoom perfectly fitted to work with a smartphone, it works very well! Excellent design by Sony. The only problem at this time has been with the PayMemories Mobile App that as issues with iOS 7. I hope this will be fixed soon with an upgrade.

Besides wishfully better image quality and greater zoom, other reasons to have this can't be found. Provided cameras (back and front) on a smart phone nowadays are working very well without paying more. Creativity: High Usefulness: Low
