This model seems a bit flimsy with less zoom

I currently have the Sony DSC-T300 (the model before this one). The T700 is the newer version with pretty much the same features, same 10.1 megapixel and etc. The only difference is the T700 has a 4gb internal memory & now the touchscreen utilizes the full screen and does not leave two black bars on the side. In my honest opinion although there are a couple of upgrades made to this model, I still prefer my T300. Sony decided to give the T700 4x zoom, the T300 has 5x zoom. Also the new T700 has a really cheap sliding len cover. It's basically one flat piece of aluminum that slides up and down to cover the lens. I tested the sturdiness of the flat lens cover, and sad to say, it's quite flimsy. The T300 has a much sturdier lens cover. Instead of being a one piece lens cover as the T700, it's a two piece cover and is much stronger and sturdier than the T700. Personally, I feel that the T700 is not that much of an upgrade from the 300. For the T700 to be the newer upgraded model from the T300, it needs to be able to do everything the 300 can do plus maybe a little more. But alas it is not and plus it was thrown into a cheap design. If you looked at a 300 & 700 side by side, the 300 definitely looks like it was constructed better and better design construction.

Best camera EVER

I have only owned this camera a short time but so far I love it! It is incredibly easy to use and takes amazing pictures. There are so many options and if you are ok with using a touch screen then you will love it. Some people have complained about the brightness of the flash but if you read the manuel you can adjust the brightness. I prefer it only flashes once as opposed to multiple flashes like my old camera which I found annoying. Some have also complained about the size of the camera and zoom. Please keep in mind this isn't a camera for long range or professional quality pictures. This is a great camera for: vacations, going out, and many other events where you would like somthing convenient and easy to carry. That is the point of the size. I could see how someone with larger hands would find it more difficult to use the touch screen but there is a styllus for that. As far as pictures go, as I mentioned they aren't "professional" quality but they are about as close as you can get! The HD quality is amazing and it is very easy to set your preferences on how you take pictures. I would advise getting a carrying case of course and a screen protector. That seems obvious but I have made that mistake before. I can't seem to find the feature that allows me to edit the picture while using the camera but I am sure I'll find it once I become more familiar. If you want an easy to use, carry, and store camera that takes wonderful pictures then this is the camera for you. If you prefer a larger, more "advanced" camera for more detailed pictures and you don't like touch screens then do not buy it. 5 stars all the way!

Excellent pictures

Takes very nice pictures. I traded a Nikon for this and couldn't be happier-- That new touch Nikon Coolpix S60 took extremely "grainy" pictures. I was very surprised with the poor quality coming from Nikon, this Cyber-Shot blows it out of the water and is as fun as that other touch screen. I would highly recommend this camara to anyone who is looking for a touch screen camara! Only bad is it seemed the battery life was too short, I would highly recommend a spare that is charged up and ready- to last a day's worth of vacation picture taking.

Best Anniversary Present Ever!!!

This camera is great. It was love at first sight! My Anniversary was in August 2008 & I got on the waiting list for the camera's release and ended up waiting for 2 months to get it. It was definitely worth the wait. Everyone compliments me on it, from the looks to the pictures, the size, the touchscreen. I could go on, but I'll stop there. This was definitely a great find for us. The only dowsides that I've found are; I take way too many pictures now :) & I have to try to hold the edge of the camera in fear that the touchscreen gets dirty.

disappointed it doesn't support Visa 64 bit OS

love the camera..but when it came down to downloading pics...it didn't support my new laptop which has vista 64 bit operating system. So many laptops on the market offer this operating system. I would like to know why they didnt make this camera support that operating system. Please advise. Im writing this so people don't make the same mistake I did.

Ultra-Compact, Ultra-Cool

The T700 is the ultimate in compact digital cameras and offers features that are as hi-tech as its design. I take it everywhere and never miss those shots with my grandkids. I can compile great slide shows with music that show up beautifully on its huge display screen without hooking up to a computer. The pictures are superb. The touch screen is not really intuitive, but fun and easy once learned. Now dials and buttons on other cameras seem archaic. Shots print directly on my printer and download onto my Mac beautifully. Sony should include its picture management software for Mac, but it isn't required. For its compact design and hi-tech feature set that is beyond any other camera the price is great value. People always notice this camera and are impressed by its design and images. It's ready to use in an instant and I like being able to switch out of view mode by slightly pressing the shutter button. The included stylus keeps fingerprints off the touch screen. I love this fine piece of digital technology!

amazing

I received this camera for a Christmas present. I had researched several cameras and this model always seemed to be the best rated. It has more than lived up to my expectations. It will take clear pics without the delay I experienced with my old camera
