Mongooz obviously doesn't have a clue how to take proper photos, or he got a bad copy. This camera is GREAT. Especially for a beginner with the easy to understand menu and function controls. It takes excellent photos, up to ISO 800, and some noise becomes noticeable at ISO 1600, and ISO 3200 is worthless. Being able to buy the older Minolta Maxxum lenses is a big plus as well. I'd recommend this camera to anyone, and I love it so much, I bought my Wife an older similar Sony Alpha A100.

Incredible photo quality. Nearly the equal of my pro gear in picture quality. Easy to use. Very forgiving. My kids can use it and still get great results. A lot of camera for the money.

the alpha 230 is THE worst piece of junk that i have ever encountered. this camera WILL NOT take a sharp well focused picture. I have three lenses for it from 18mm to 300mm and NONE of them will result in a good sharp focuses picture. I will NEVER buy a Sony product ever again. I have only given this product ONE star, because this software will not ALLOW a ZERO star rating.
