I have never regreted paying for the A700. Have had it for almost a year. I am really impreseed with the startup speed. I was using a Fuji 7000s which I still have a fond spot for for its wieght and versatility for a novice; but, the A700 is heads and shoulders above it for quality of picture and ease of use (intuitive). The A700 does take some muscle to use all day and its shutter noise will get your model's attention (no sneaking up on the animals); but, the results of a good shot are amazing. I had to add the Carl Ziess T 16-80 to the kit. WOW what a combination.

I have a lot of Minolta equipment that will work with this model. Reason for me buying it. Plus I'm very satisfied with my Minoltas. Shot over 300 pictures last month using a 24-105 Minolta "D" lens. Worked great. Also used my 5600HD flash. Aside from a little loose on the camera mount it too worked great. I'm very satisfied so far. Was waiting for a discount to come along and it did. Got a $300 disc on the body. [...]

THis camera is lightning fast with pristine picture quality. I upgraded from a Nikon D60 to this camera instead of going with a D300. Two hundred dollars cheaper with all the bells and whistles that any photographer could ask for. I coupled this with a Lexar Pro UDMA 300X CF Card and the speed is just phenominal. And the features are wonderfull as well. The bionz processor does all it claims to do and the dynamic range is as good as any camera in this price range.

fantastic camera in the tradition of the minolta SLRs (the current sony line is a revival of the icon minolta TM that sold out to sony)fantastic magnesium ally built, intuitive menus and controls, sensor based stabilization: all lenses WILL be stabilized as opposed to Canon and Nikon.Used extensively for travel, portraits, macro, landscape with great results. Takes old minolta lenses that can be found for relatively cheap on [...]and are of top quality! (the kit lens is not so good but still very usable. If offered the choice and the budget, I would buy the camera only and buy a better quality lens separately)great camera and at this price I am considering buying a second one - have no interest in the pixel battle and I am not looking froward to get a camera with ridiculous file sizes to clog my computer... shooting RAW at 12MP allows me to print posters!

We both had grate shots ,then for soom reasionmy shots started to get foggy. we traided lens and mine still was out of focus. when I digital them up to 60-to 100% for the money it is not worth it. twice I have purchased a sony camera and had problums with both of them. never again
