Shopper : The product description only mentions manual focus which may be because this accessory is useful for macro photography which is often done with manual focus. I assume it would not interfere with auto focus for normal to tele shots though. Am I right?ANGIE K : That's correct, it will not interfere with auto-focus. The magnifier is independent of auto-focusing by the lenses. I prefer viewing through the eyepiece instead of using the LCD panel on the back of the camera. My particular Sony alpha DSLR has a VERY SMALL eyepiece for through the lens viewing. To compensate for this, I use a Sony viewfinder magnifier (although it's one of the other models) because it's a better fit for my eyes.ROBERT M : It flips up (see the hinge on one side) so you can see through the normal viewer. It has no electronic connection so it does not influence anything in the function of the camera. I use it for tele.KIRK Q : Sorry, but I did not use the device often enough to be able to answer your question.TERRY F : the manual focus only applies to focucing the eyepiece to get a sharp image in the viewfinder.the cameras auto focus is unaffected.AYDIN O : You attach this to the viewfinder to magnify the image seen thru the viewfinder. It does not interfere with the auto focus of the lens on the camera. But you need to turn of the LCD monitor & switch to OVF.

Invaluable in manually focusd macrophotography. Helps in some telephotography, too. Seems a little pricey, but I reckon that's the way things are in the photography biz, especially when purchasing from camera manufacturers.

Good magnifier

In my macro photography work I find it helpful to have some additional magnification when doing fine detail/shallow depth of field work. This maginifer works well for focusing (which I strictly use manual focus for macro work). I use this magnifier on my Canon XTi camera. It does not fit the Canon Xti eyepiece however, BUT if you purchase the Pro Optic Angle Finder it comes with eyepiece adapters that this unit will attach to. As for Cons, it tends to crop the viewfinder information quite a bit, but since it flips up without having to detach from the camera it isn't too much trouble to compose first and then flip it down to assist in focusing.
