Excellent pictures. Camera is solid and menu is not hard to understand even for me. I am not technically savvy. Although I know a lot about photography I get lost when I try to figure out electronic cameras. But this one irrelatively easy to figure out and has some actual buttons for features only accessible on menus not other cameras.

I'm just not sure what the competition is with this one. HIGH Quality pics, better than average video, great glass. Sharp as a tack. Manual control for those who wish, certainly good enough to use only on Auto, though. The view screen pulls out and adjusts (truly a wonderful part of this camera) to get PERFECT shots. Nothing negative about it, easy to use and can be as complex as you make it. I don't have much else that competes directly with it's features...it's kind of like dynamite wrapped in glass...looks good, great lens, great pictures and good video, lots of control...but at the price, not something you want to drop. There's a lot going on with this small body that could get fouled up, but until that happens I'm sold!!

Bought the camera for indoor low light concerts for a band that i work for. It did such a stellar job many people thought i was using a DSLR! Absolutely loved the camera for both stills and videos. And then one night it started malfunctioning. if i went to press the button, the window changed over to the wheel and started rotating furiously! it finally stopped but again, almost every time I went to take a pic the wheel would show up. While it didn't change it was super annoying and I lost many good shots. For one show I had to switch to video mode then spend extra time pulling frames from them for my still shots. My warranty is up and don't want to spend alot of money getting it repaired if it can be repaired. Been looking at the A6000 or waiting for it's replacement. Sad that it malfunctioned on me because i was totally in love with this camera!

Bought this because I wanted a quality point and shot. It has exceeded my expectations. Great pictures, as is the video. Best part is its ability to take good pictures in low light without having to make a bunch of adjustments. I have recommended this camera to everyone that tells me they are looking for a new point and shoot. Expensive, but really worth it.

Camera uses a proprietary form of RAW, calledARW! After prolonged talk with SONY support, a downloaded program allowed conversion,to TIFF. The conversion was laborious. The SONY salesman had assured me that I could download RAW files directly! That was not my experience.

I've loved Sony products for years, and have been a news photographer for years as well. I've had my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX 100 for a couple of years now and still can't work it. There are no Instructions as to how to us it. The Flash consistently "Flash Burns" subjects, and I can go on and on. This RX100 II is just an enhanced RX100, so why would I want one of these after my negative experience with the later???

I wanted a camera for indoor shots without flash in very dark situations. It performed very well. I tried 5 different cameras. The small size was another plus. I needed it for a trip "on the run " , so used it like a point and shoot, but it is a very sophisticated camera that a more advanced photographer will appreciate. Outdoor shots were beautiful too.

The camera takes fine photos. The hardware ergonomic layout is dismal. The software and user interface are abysmal. The camera is difficult to learn and difficult to use. The negatives outweigh the positives. I wish I had purchased an alternate camera.

This is a great camera for its size. It takes great pictures, even in low light. My wife took the picture below in Carlsbad Caverns handheld, and without a flash. The electronic viewfinder is a useful addition, especially in bright light. You can get great close-ups with good bokeh too, but that's a little tricky. Excellent camera!

This is a great little camera that I purchased. The amount of options and setting in the menu are overwhelming. Most of the time I have to leave it as default. Great sharp pictures and I also like the NFC function which works with my Galaxy S4.

The Good: 36mb Excellent Resolution, color, sharpness. The Bad: Extremely slow startup time. Noisy, slow focus, shutter actuation(after pushing shutter button takes extra ordinary time for shot to be taken. Quirky some times it show down right in the middle of a shot. Review button sometimes fails to activate. Poor battery life and expensive at $79.00 I have A99,A77,A900,A700,A100, RX100 and Nex5 to compare it to. If could have the low light capability, 36mb,resolution, and speed of my A99 or A900 I would be a very happy camper. For landscapes, portraits etc.; it is a great camera for a sport photographer it just doesn't cut it!

I'm a professional cinematographer who owns and operates expensive movie quality equipment. For work I typically travel with many cases of heavy gear so when it comes to documenting family vacations I rather travel with no gear. Even a dslr with lenses is too much for me. On a family vacation to North Carolina I brought my RX-100 that I've only used for filming aerials from remote helicopters. The images I got from this camera were amazing. It only films 60f/s video which is great for slow mo and it has a very fast lens. The image stabilizer combined with a smooth hand allows for great dolly moves . We are professional concert photographers that shoot with Sony A77s and Sony and Minolta glass. I had been searching for the perfect point and shoot to have handy for close ups when I am using my 80-200 2.8 Minolta lens on my A77 to cover close ups and wide angle shots. I read several reviews on low light point and shoot cameras thinking that I would be able to shoot with no flash and capture the images I wanted. After testing several and being disappointed with all of them I found myself testing this camera. After kicking myself in the pants wondering why I didn't just start with Sony in the 1st place I have finally found the perfect mate to our pro gear! This camera captures great images in difficult situations and the images taken in good light are every bit as good as those taken from our pro gear! It hangs nicely from my wrist while I am shooting with our larger cameras and is ready to go when I need it. When I don't need it it fits nicely in my pocket. We've captured some very professional photos with this camera!

I own the RX100 and loved it except that I couldn't take pictures outdoors because the sun obscured the LED screen. I couldn't see a thing on a sunny day. Very fundamental! So I was excited to see that the RX100 11 came with a tilting screen and a viewfinder slot on top. But was so disappointed by the limited flexibility of the screen- I took the camera out on a sunny day and I still couldn't see the LCD screen, and what I could take was limited to the angles I could make the LCD flex in (up and down) . The separate viewfinder is $400 plus and so big it negates the whole pocket camera concept. I wanted so much to love the RX100 11 - it does have all these xtra features but disappointed me on the fundamentals. Sony, please give me the same camera with a built in viewfinder, fully flexible LCD screen (flip out 360) , more zoom- and a few fixes on button placement-

The RX100 II is a great little camera: pocketable: Zeiss lens, exceptional build quality, nice features, quality pictures for the most part. I also have a NEX7 with the 24mm Zeiss lens and expected similar result from the RX100 II in the scene mode for sunsets as an example. That's not going to happen unless you use a tripod. In that mode, the shutter speed and ISO make hand holding the RX100 nearly impossible. Always blurry pictures vs. the NEX 7 shooting in the same mode. I find that many times unless i really dial up the ISO I am getting shutter speeds at 1/30th which prevents super sharp pictures even with the steady shot feature turned on. It would be nice if the tele zoom went to 140- 150 MM and didn't go to f4.9 in the tele mode. Sharing pictures and sending to a smartphone even with the memories app on an iPhone is not as easy as it sounds and it needs wi-fi vs. bluetooth. Accessories: The camera needs a grip for man sized hands. Yet it is an accessory for $15. More important, The camera needs an accessory viewfinder for outdoor shots. The articulating screen is good and even set for daylight there is too much reflection to really compose the shot. The ACCESSORY VIEWFIDER is $449 or discounted by some stores at $349- still a great deal of money. At $699, the price of this camera is high and SONY should be making a good enough profit without gouging the customer on the viewfinder. The instruction booklet leave a lot to be desired. There's lot to learn about the capabilities of the camera beyond the list of features. The booklet that comes with he camera is not complete at all. So then you have to buy a book for $25. C'mon now. I expect more of SONY All in all, a good camera. After all the reviews I read and spending nearly $1300 for the camera, viewfinder, battery charger, flash and grip, I probably could have considered a few other cameras. I'm going to keep it hough and continue experimenting as I believe it will probably be great....until the RX200 with built-in Viewfinder and longer telephoto range are available in June or July of this year.

No doubt, best compact digital camera I own. I have several in addition to my bigger gear. There are other compact digital cameras worth looking at, but only a few that may compare to this little gem. Besides all the features the best thing for me is that it shoots in RAW and with a full frame sensor. Can't beat that, period. But consider your hands before you buy. I take pics for a living and even I have a little bit of a problem with how small this camera is. Not that it is necessarily a bad thing to be this small but your hands can get in the way. I know, this sounds a little nuts. I have average 'guy' hands. But consider the placement of the Info button AND the "flash" side of the control wheel. The camera is so small that both of these functions are all the way tight to the right side of the camera back. So much so that I have a little trouble holding the camera without turn one or the other on. Easy enough to turn off again but a little bit of a nuisance. You will especially have trouble holding the camera if you do not also get the grip attachment like the Sony AG-R1 for example. There is otherwise no grip on the front, nothing. On the backside, my fingers want to hold somewhere ( and its usually not where Sony designed for my thumb to go and that's on the rubbery grip next to the "record" button but instead at the bottom right hand corner ) and my thumb or fingers inevitably turn on the Info button or the flash menu function to the right side of the control wheel accidentally. You will have to adapt and learn not to do this because you will want this camera and will find out you will not regret it, despite the placement of those buttons.

Researched numerous Compacts with attached zoom lens equal to my most used 'big ones.' Several of the top major brands had a demo day at a local full service camera store . The Sony DSC-RX100 M2 with the great glass (Carl Zeiss f/1.8-4.6), 28-100 zoom (35 mm equivalent) lens, seemed to fulfill my "wants." .. It has! Would give 5 stars if better documentation, very minimal. This camera has all that they say, much more than probably will ever be used, but .. there needs to be a much more detailed explanation of the extensive menu options and such uses as e.g., wireless flash, that is available with other quality devices. Would recommend to a friend, with caveat that Sony is a VERY large and diverse company with minimum customer relations/service.

This camera gets me so excited, I take it to the office just in case I run into some free time to take some pictures. The photo quality even on "auto" is so crisp it can make anyone a good photographer. I'm literally waiting for the day I need to take a group photo so I can just sync to my phone and take it from there instead of running back and forth #This is an issue I have often#. This camera is compact, durable, crisp, and has every function above what you would need in a point and shoot. The movie quality is excellent as well. This camera has some fun "special effects" that are nice if you do not know anything about photo editing. I'd recommend this camera to both professionals and anyone just looking for an every day camera. I love it!

I owned and loved the RX100 but the RX100M2 has some really bad pitfalls. 1) Their new "autofocus" is worse than in the RX100. It prioritizes the background and objects in the foreground are often out of focus. For example, I can be recording video in auto-mode with a person 2 feet in front of me and it will focus on the background half the time, even when the person takes up 90% of the frame. It makes no sense why the camera would focus on something that takes up 1/10th of the picture! 2) Whites really, really throw off blacks. If someone is wearing a white shirt and black pants, their legs turn out like black shadows because it messes up the exposure. There 'should' be an option for backlight compensation or something that de-prioritizes whites and compensates for blacks. Blacks are always hard to pick up and this makes it that much worse. 3) Wi-Fi is really spotty. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S3 so maybe an iPhone is more consistent but when you start recording, it's very laggy and almost impossible to use the zoom function. Thanks for hearing my feedback, Sony. Can't wait for the RX200!

It took me less than 5 minutes to download the Mac OS X software (from the link given in the WiFi pamphlet that came with the camera) and connect the RX100 II to my iMac, my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 5. The WiFi link established worked flawlessly in all three cases. I don't understand why anyone is having problems with this.

I purchased this camera two weeks ago and I've got to say it's fantastic. I shoot a canon 5d Mk11 full frame so I know quality. I've just printed out a shot A2 and I can't believe how good it looks. it turns on ready to shoot in about 1 second and has hardly any shutter lag, this is one great camera and I don't think anyone who buys it will be disappointed. well done Sony!
