Great addition to my A7RIII , I use  my camera for portrait so it makes it much easier to use.

I found this useful when using my A7 for video - it prevents the need to change batteries mid-shot, which seemed to happen to me all the time prior to using the grip!

This was one of the best investments I mad for my Sony gear. After picking up the 100-400mm I realized that for the first time body size was an issue and I needed a better grip on the body. I purchased this and it installed easy and worked like a charm. I can't imagine going back now.

Get a Grip!

This Vertical Camera Grip plays a huge part in my job. I love it and I never use my Canera without it.

VG-C1EM

The A7 series is by nature a small camera system so the VG-C1EM certainly makes the camera a lot bigger and heavier-more so than expected. It would be good for those shooters with much larger hands than me but I have found it makes the camera far too heavy and unbalanced. I got this at a reduced price as I am sure it will be discontinued soon as my A7R is an old model now and there are newer grips for the newer models. I will keep it though as the controls for vertical hand held shooting are nice and the grip will come in to its own if/when I purchase some of the bigger/newer zoom lenses or GM lenses.

Overpriced at RRP

I purchased this battery grip because it was the one listed under "recommended accessories" for the Sony a7sII on Adorama's website.  As it turns out, this grip is not compatible with the (mark) II cameras.  The correct grip would be the Sony VG-C2EM.  They are the same price.  I will be exchanging the C1EM for the C2EM, but I wanted to post a review to clear confusion for other buyers and in hopes that Adorama might ensure the correct grip shows up as a recommended accessory.

NOT for the a7sII

A great product to add to my A7S. Love the fact that I can switch between the two batteries and always have a back up running. Would have liked an additional front and back finger wheel to control aperture and shutter speed.

Great product! Perfect for long day shoots!

The Vertical Grip's weight and extra battery aids in providing more balance and feel to the Sony A7. For those with larger hands, the resting places for your pinkies and palms have a solid feel.  The Aperture and Shutter speed dials are mirrored when shooting vertically, but the data on the screen does not flip. The grip can be easily removed when wanted.  I carry an additional two batteries in my Rapid Strap so having 4 batteries on a long day keeps me in action.

great product

The a7r is a incredible camera this is a must if you are outside all day Yes it is Easier to just Cary extra batteries but the extended body makes it a lot easier to just hold the camera with out straps.

A must buy

Adding a battery pack to this petite camera sorta defeats the purpose of the small size of the a7. However, it is a nice accessory to have when you are not concerned with the added size to the camera and/or you need the extended battery life. The added weight is minimal.

Nice to Have

the vertical grip with two internal batteries is a great accessory to the Sony A7. the fit and finish is nice and feels great on the hands. i have larger hands and the weight of the vertical grip gives more stability to the camera.  

the side door for the SD card was a good placement on the body of the A7.

the controls have a nice feel an mirrors some of the most used functions.  

wondering if Sony will have a firmware update to 'flip' the data on the screen to vertical?  

all in all, a great buy....even sweeter when purchased with rewards points!

great accessory to the A7

Like the A7 series, the grip is quite small and light, making the camera plus grip combination smaller than other full frame DSLRs on their own! The capacity to use a second battery is invaluable for a day's shooting.

Nice and compact

I never take the grip off. It adds additional handling support and is great addition to the Sony A7r. I appreciate the smaller than normal (as in compared to a standard DSLR), platform in size of the A7r & grip combined. Its unassuming and quite easy to use. The only complaint is there the shutter release is located. I like the feel of a shutter button on the drive/grip on a standard dSLR as opposed to the A7r.

Phenominal Product

Makes the A7r handle really nicely. Makes it feel nice, and much easier for me to handle since I have large hands. Does not increase the weight dramatically as some other vertical grips on other cameras have done
