Does not work well for a landscape photog who shoots primarily from a tripod.

This is a great battery grip, first it doubles your battery capacity. It is made of magnesium alloy. It allows you to shoot portraits and landscape with ease and adds more early accessible buttons. The bulk and weight also helps balance the camera for heavy lenses.

I think this would extand overall battery life. I let battery go all the way down and it automaticly will switch to second battery. Now I don't need to charge batteries with 30% left in them just in case.

A must use for portrait shooting. A bit heavy but holding two batteries is a plus. Makes the camera so comfortable to hold

Lighter than I thought it would be. It works well, and does make vertical shooting with a longer lens much easier. While I wouldn't leave it on my camera for everything, it can be useful in the right circumstance.

This is perhaps the most important accessory made to accompany the Alpha 900 and 850 (works on both models). With the VGC90AM, the Alpha 900 becomes much better stabilized and easier to handle especially when shooting with large and heavy lenses such as the CZ 24-70 and the 70-200G. If you are planning on doing portrait work then this is a no brainer. Perhaps its best feature is that it offers the ability to install a second NP-FM500H battery inside which in turn will double your battery life to about 1500 photos based on my experience. All in all, you are getting a great value for your dollar with this product.

I use it on an a850. It makes the camera easier to hold, not only in the vertical position, and it is very easy to remove if, for some reason, you want to lighten the load. The camera becomes more bulky and it can be difficult to fit it into your camera bag.

Just love having the ability to keep shooting and shooting with no need to change batteries.

If you want to have a good overall grip with the most wanted control of your A900 and a "never ending batterycharge" you should get the Sony Vertical Grip for A900. It´s at pitty that it does not come with a wrist strap, with that it will give you a secure grip and a steady shot.

I bought this at the same time as my a900, due simply to the fact that I'd had the Vgrip on my a700 and found it to be an important part of the camera, in addition to counter balancing some of the 'bigger' lenses. I can see no reason that this would not continue to be the case on the a900. Plus, I've got large hands and it just 'feels good'.

This is a must have it makes the A900 complete in all its functions. Nothing but praise here for this grip as it makes shooting just that much easier. With all the buttons in the right place regardless of the shooting angle you just cant go wrong. I love it

I bought a Minolta D7 along with the camera grip available at the time and found it indispensible. When I bought the A900 I was hoping the grip would be at least as good. I was very happy when I got it out of the box. It is heavy, but build quality is outstanding. The buttons are well marked and the joy stick is made as well as the one on the camera itself. The grip fits my hand very well. My wife thought it was large but not unmanagable for a woman. A nice feature I hadn't expected was the battery indicator on the camera shows both batteries in the grip. It will give you a running charge level on the fiirst battery until it is exhausted and then will show the second battery. I was however disappointed this grip does not give you the flexibilty to use AA batteries when in a pinch. The Minolta had a carriage you could put 8 AA batteries in and slide it into the battery compartment of the grip. Nice when batteries become unavailable. All in all this is an excellent product and would have no reservations in recommending it.
