Shopper : what is the difference between the XQD H and XQD S series?ALISTAIR P : Te difference is the read wrire speeds, the first generation are still very fast and were introduced at the same time as the Nikon D4. The senond generation are even faster - I think up to 165 mbsec. However I do fast bust rates using Raw + JPEG using a D4 and as yet I have never locked up. I'm not sure of what requirements you need but if I remember the H will do 108 RAW files consecutive before buffering. The attraction of the older version is the price to sell off old stock - $99 versus @229ANTONIO C : This XQD H is first generation of the XQD cards they are faster than the CF cards. The XQD S series write/reading speeds are faster than the H series.SCOTT B : The most obvious thing is 1st price, then 2nd data transfer speeds.NAZHIYATH V : Sony XQD S series is the second generation and has transfer speed of 168MB/sec as opposed to 125MB/sec wth the H series. The S series is availabe now with a capacity of 64GB.PETER F : The XQD S series card has a spec'd transfer rate of 168MB/s, whereas the original slower XQD H series card transfers at 125MB/s.THOMAS C : The S series is a faster card (meaning a faster burst ie., high speed, continuous shooting).
Shopper : Does the 32 GB card work in a Nikon DS4?TED A : This card works very well (is actually required in the first slot) in the new Nikon D4. If Nikon makes a D4S someday, it will likely work there, since this is a really fast card. If they make this camera, it should be years out and I doubt they will go that way. I had a Nikon D3S & D3X, in which it will not work directly without some kind or adaptor. It does not work in a Nikon D700 or D800. I found a Nikon DS 40 on the web, in which it seems unlikely to work, since this is an old camera and this card just came out. I could not find a DS4, so that is all I knowDRUYAN B : Hello... I believe you mean the "D4" instead of the "DS4"? Yes, the card works very well in the D4, and not only that, but when connected to a USB 3 port, the transfer times to download photos are greatly reduced over other cards I have used. I am very happy with it- and they will only get better now that XQD 2 is out.LAUDENCIO O : Yes, 32GB XQD coupled with 32GB compact flash works perfectly on my D4. Thanks adorama for promt delivery of D4 and accessories. Perfect timing to our cruise in Alaska. DENNIS H : Yes, it will work with a Nikon D4.H.R. D : I will guess that the "S" is a typo and that you really mean the new Nikon D4. Yes, the XQD cards work great in the D4. Much faster than CF cards, much more durable, no exposed pins. Looks like the future of storage media for a while.GEORGE W : If you mean model D4, yes. In fact 32gb fills up fast. If you are shooting action bursts at full fps, better get a couple.JUSTIN H : I think you may have a typo. I think you are referring to the Nikon D4. Yes, this is the card that you'll use for the D4. I purchased 3 32 gb cards and get somewhere around 1200 RAW photos per card. The 2nd slow for the D4 holds Compact Flash cards.FLOYD D : Well, I assume the question is actually about the Nikon D4, because I don't know of any model from Nikon that is a "DS4". Emphatically the answer for a Nikon D4 DSLR is that yes the Sony 32GB XQD card works just fine. I have both 32GB and 16GB Sony XQD cards, and they work equally well in the Nikon D4. If the "DS4" refers to something other than a D4, as far as I know the D4 is the only current Nikon camera that uses the XQD cards.JOHN B : Yes it does! Very well!CLAY C : Yes. Works great. ClayWALTER C : I assume you mean a Nikon D4 (not a "DS4"). Yes, the Sony 32 GB XQD card works fine. I use it every day without issues. It is fast and reliable. To transfer the images from this card to my computer I either use the Sony external card reader connected to my computer via a USB 3 port or a Sony Expresscard adapter.DAVID N : I don't know what a Nikon DS4 is. The card works great in my D4, and that is the only device I know of that it does work in.THOMAS W : yes. the D4 is the ONLY camera an XQD card will work in at this time.CHRISTOPHER O : Most likely, seems to be hear to stay, so says the experts.LAUDAN B : I bought this item as a recommendation from Adorama and come to find out it does not fit my camera (D800). I tried to return it (within 30 days) and they said because I opened it, you cannot return it. I'll never buy from Adorama again. I recommend buying from a company that will let you return something if it you don't/cannot use it.NAZHIYATH V : Sony XQD cards work well in Nikon D4 camera. It is fast and solidly built. It does need a crd reader made by Sony specifically for this card.JAMES E : it works for the D4, i don't think NIkon makes a D"S"4.LARRY K : I have the Nikon D4 and yes the Sony 32 GB card will work in the D4.DANIEL M : The only camera that this will work in is the Nikon D4. There is no such model, DS4.CHRISTOPHER W : Not sure what you mean by a DS4 since I didn't think an S version would be out for a year or two but it works great in my D4.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?LAUDENCIO O : For use on the Nikon D4 currently on orderRichard G : Because I plan to use my Nikon D4 for large multimedia video projects, I am planning to use the rapid data transfer capability of the XQD format for video. I will be using a 64 GB 400X Lexar CF card for photos.JOHN P : Sigh, yet another card format to contend with. Yet - this new design has a lot going for it. In addition to it's blazingly quick I/O it is a toughly designed card with edge, instead of pin contacts. After using it, I am reasonably happy, and am wishing that Nikon also offered this new card format on the D800.

Product works very well

Hasn't gotten much traction, typical SONY thinking we need another new standard. But the pin design should be better long term and the card is fast. But don't plan on buying them anywhere but on line.

Can't get enough of these cards now

I have been a CF card fan since I got my first 64MB card for $399 over ten years ago. I have had SD cards chip or break but CF has been there for me. Then I get a D4 and find a XQD slot. But I keep saying QXD. They need to make it two letters. That's my only grips. This thing is FAST. I want two XQD slots now. I have the 16GB card that I got with my D4 and then got two 32GB cards. I am weening myself off of CF cards. This is the future.

Great Card

XQD cards are great to have as part of the Nikon D4 system. The 168MB/s write speed is 68% faster than 1000x compact flash memory, allowing bursts of 100 continuous RAW frames at the maximum frame rate. I also appreciate this format's elimination of pins in the card slot, which is a strong plus for anyone who has ever dealt with a bent CF slot pin.

Top Notch

I had tremendous trepidation about this new card being included in the new Nikon D4. I really felt like it was a bad idea BEFORE I used them. Now that I have had a chance to use the included 16gb card and this 32gb additional card....I am a huge fan. The Sony XQD cards work extremely well in my Nikon D4. At this point, I wish Nikon had made both slots XQD. The card pushes in with a nice click and there is no concerns over bending pins as in the CF cards. It is a reasonable size and the write speeds seem very fast. I would highly recommend.

I'm using a 16GB and have the 32GB back ordered. First impression: Really Impressed. The card is smaller than a Compact Flash card but slightly thicker. It has a real good feel to it and undeniably it is fast.

Sony XQD Memory Card data transfer speed enhances the continuous shooting speed, won't miss teh critical moments

With blazing fast data transfer speeds, Sony's XQD Memory Card achieves stable, continuous shooting to capture each moment in the highest quality. When using with Nikon's DSLR "D4", XQD memory cards can record approximately up to 100 frames in RAW format in continuous shooting mode.

ThePCIe interface and a unique controller enables high-speed data processing, resulting in write speed and performance that can't be achieved by conventional CompactFlash card.

Using a USB 2.0/3.0 compatible XQD card reader or an XQD ExpressCard adapter, quickly and easily transfer large quantities of very high capacity data like RAW images to PC, delivering efficient and fast workflow..
