Pro results even for novices
I consider myself a novice photographer. I consider myself a novice photographer. After doing amateur digital photography for about fifteen years I recently moved up to a DSLR and finally got serious about editing my images to a pro level to include in the image databases on the websites I manage. The Nik Software suite gives you a number of professional looking options for any image. You can quickly find an option close to what you want, then tweak it with their handy controls until it's got just the right look. I use Photoshop CS4 on WinXP and have had no problems with the program. The Viveza system took a little while to learn, but once you get the hang of it you'll see how much time you save not having to do all the work of selections and masking. I've already found Color Efex and Silver Efex really useful and from what I've seen I know I'll be using Sharpener and Dfine a lot as I get the hang of it. As another reviewer mentioned, you won't use all the filters on every image. But, if you are serious about image editing you will eventually have images that could benefit from one or more of these filters. To me that makes the bundle worth it.Like any new tool, there's a certain learning curve involved. I would recommend the tutorials on the Nik site as they really helped me to not only see what these filters could do but how to accomplish those results. I also found the Nik customer service department very helpful and responsive to email inquiries.I had been waiting for a good price on the complete bundle and when I saw Adorama's sale I knew it was time to go for it. I consider this one of the best investments I've made as a photographer. [...]

Great bargain but now outdated
I have used this package for much of my photographic work, which includes everything from a trip to the Colorado region to photographs of a string ensemble. However, I recently learned that Nik has released a new version of Color Efex and I am sorely tempted to buy it--I feel as if this package is already outdated. But the new package is rather pricey. For a bargain, though, or for a starter package of software, this package can't be beat.

Color correction with Color Efex Pro Easy to use. Silver Efex Pro made me enjoy converting to B&W. Working direct in Lightroom makes life a little easier. The Support has been good and friendly. As a packaged collection I find that the Product keys were too many and to big. One key for the collection should suffice.
I use this in conjunction with LR4. It has improved my final product. Easy to install, navigate and use. Well worth the money!
Nik software, along with Lightroom 4, has become a critical part of my workflow. It's extremely flexible and the results have exceeded my expectations.
Love the "u-Point" technology for great control in enhancing an image.
Like I said, I'm just starting to use this product. It is for Light Room but I would also like the version that would work for Photoshop also but that version is to expensive. So I use it after I do my photoshop work if needed and if I don't need photoshop then it is great for that purpose. All in all I like the versatility of the different programs that are in this collection.
Once I realized that I needed to go to the NIK site and download the lastest version, the installation and setup process went smooth. I am only starting to use this software, and already I find that it exceeds my expectations. I like the previews of some presets on the left side. I just pick one, and then customize.
The only knock I can give this excellent suite of software is that there are variations across the suite that, while not confusing, can be disappointing. Like whether you can group control points, or not. Also, if you like to use more than one of the apps in the suite, you must return to Lightroom and relaunch the other app.
These will take a lifeless ho-hum photograph and make it sing. It will bring back a lot of what you see when you're out there making the shot to the point of awesome.
I use Nik on the creative side of my photography. Whether you need your work to match your vision or you just want to play, this software is so effortless and powerful. Silver Efex has brought new depth and dimension to my b&w. I use HDR Efex because it is so fast and easy for great results. Viveza gives me the color control I want. Just wonderful stuff.
Very powerful photo editing suite which integrates well with Photoshop and Lightroom.
