I have some less expensive versions of this socket where the thumbscrew stripped the plastic after repeated assemblies.DAVE M : The set screw for the umbrella threads into plastic. Shopper : what is the maxium wattage this socket can handle?GARY F : I don't see a rating, but it's construction doesn't inspire confidence above 100 Watts, maybe 200. I wouldn't go beyond that. Remember this thing is all plastic. With too much heat it'll just melt...DAN M : I use mine with eiko 85-watt spiral fluorescent bulbs, which are quite large and heavy. Wouldn't want to try anything bigger myself. I wouldn't use any tungsten bulbs with this mount, which is made out of plastic. Pasquale L : i don't think the jtl has any maximum wattage but the umbrella you use with it will have a max wattage

Compact and ideal for hiding fill lights
Use with small halogen flood or spot lamps and hide within the picture area to eliminate dark areas or add empahsis

Does its job well
I use this for the JTL AC-socket flashes. They're a real step up from industrial sockets. Work well, well built. Be sure to remember to buy a stand.

Good for the light traveler
If you looking for something to do some basic lighting, for little money and light to carry this product is for you.. I have three sockets, slaves and unbrellas. Works fine for the little family portraits I do. Worth buying if you on a budget.
