Great for the money

By

I bought this boom and was quite impressed with the sandbag and bag that it came with. Its very lightweight, with plastic fasteners used at critical stress points (which is where the negativity seems to come from). I'm currently using this boom with an AB1600 and 22" beautydish in an indoor settings and have no problems with it. Under heavy load, I don't have confidence in it - but for a starter boom or strobist use, it'd be more than ample.

Poor quality; broke on first use

By

I just received this today. It seemed like a good deal compared to the more expensive options, but you get what you pay for. As soon as I attached a counterweight - only about 10 pounds, nothing very heavy - the part on the end of the boom where the counterweight attaches literally came apart from the boom. It looks like it was held in by a few *tiny* bits of metal which failed in one way or another. Spend some more money on something from a reputable manufacturer. You won't regret it.
