For the price, you can't beat it

So I'll get the cons out of the way first, since they are minor. First, the kit isn't really packaged in a reusable way, unless you plan on using the paper, cardboard, and bubble wrap that's in there. I plan on using some left over inserts from my other cases to make this better. Putting the softboxes together and affixing them to the light fixture is a weird process and kind of clunky at first. The softboxes have vents in the back that let light out, but they aren't going to be an issue in most lighting situations. They are halogen lights so expect lots of heat, and buy gloves. Now for the PROS: The light quality is fantastic! The build quality is sturdy, and the stands are robust (hard to get in a light kit this cheap). I have no worries about these things holding up. Bulbs are cheap and interchangeable with different wattages/intensities ~$10 per After investing a lot in gear and not wanting to spend any more, I decided that softboxes were necessary but looked for the cheapest possible option. Couldn't find anything decent or halfway bright for my price range on B&H, then I found these. Really, if you're okay with the heat of halogen lights and don't need the bells and whistles of LEDs (dimmers, etc.) then these will produce great quality light and last a long time. Can't go wrong at this price range -- very happy customer.

Worth every penny

Putting the diffuser screens together requires space and time. Practice before heading to an travel site. Case holds everything with extra space for additoinal cords, etc. Very pleased with results. Used for outdoor shoot of holloween costumes, excellent results. Also used in product shoots for advertising again, excellent results. Easy to adjust.

Need extra Light?

Used for product shoots, very good, used outdoors for small group photos, excellent. Difusers take a little time to set up, must be careful with bulbs while attaching difuser. Stands are sturdy and very adjustable. All fits in case nicely making transportation a breeze. Very happy with purchase.

Nice lights

Its a good light set for the money. But the softboxes would be a pain to put together and take apart all the time. Have to take the bulbs in and out.

GOOD STUFF

I like being able to see what I'm getting before I fire a frame. I've used norman strobes since 1971. I think I'll get a lot of use out of the JTL quartz lighting kit.

Good price, excellent for beginner

I am very glad with this kit. 3000W is powerful enough for most of the setting. Light stands are very steady. Good value for the money.

I would buy this product again.

The only negative experience I have is that one unit does not work anymore and I cannot find a new fuse for it. [...]
