Questions & Answers

Shopper : i'm interested in this light for shooting wedding group shots instead of using on camera flash. Will one of these lights give enough light to do that or will I need two of them?Rudolph S C : Its about 160 guide number. Meaning F16 at ten feet straight on. This light is one of my favorites for almost any type of lighting situation other then trying to over power (balance with full) sunlight. For the money you will be happy.
Christine B : Hi, i'm really interested in this but no nothing of strobe lights so here are my questions... 1. Does it have a light that stays on for evening shoots? 2. I have a Canon Rebel t3i, do i need a transmitter / receiver or will my built in one work? 3. how does that strobe know when to go off once i press my button? Sorry, still learning on how to use this stuff.. :)Rudolph S C : Yes the strobe has a model light 150watt on AC and a 10watt on DC. Question #2 you can trigger this flash with your on camera so long as the 301 sees the camera flash. The 301 does have a sensor to see the light from your Canon, and it is very sensitive. However, the flash on the camera must be in MANUAL Mode. No TTL for flash. Question#3 The on camera flash will trigger the strobe so long as it can have a line of sight with the on camera flash.ANDREW R : I'm not sure what you mean by a light that stays on for evening shoots. This unit does have a modeling lamp if that's what you're referring to. This strobe unit includes an optical slave that is triggered when another flash unit goes off, I'm not aware of a built in trigger on the T3i, however there are several wireless trigger options available that may be used. The strobe would be triggered either by another flash unit, wireless trigger system, or wired sync cable.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?Rudolph S C : Works Great! Pretty powerfull, even in DC mode. I have had no problems with this unit even on battery power.

Powerful & Handy

I bought this kit (Mobilight+battery) as a used one. It's powerful enough for most of my event shooting. Specially I like the AC+DC design for both indoor and out, day light temperature all the time & the supper light body of the battery (feel nothing at all on my shoulder).

perfect for small studio and locations

Like the detachable light head, specially easy to replace at locations. The detachable light braket save a lot of space for carrying on road. The battary is so light in weight that I feel comfortabl to wear two with my waist belt.

New Battery Pack is poor

I have 4 JTL 300 WS monolights in all. They work very well and can take a beating. These have fallen over at the beach, taken a few knocks but they work very well. The best value for money monolights on the market for sure. THE PROBLEM IS THESE NEW SMALLER VERSION BATTERY PACKS. They do not hold charge at all. Out of the last 6 I got 3 of them never even worked in the first place. The performance of the battery packs are very very poor. Be warned.

Great light on AC... Battery Pack Sucks

The light head it self works great for the money. It even works great on DC but the supplied battery pack worked good on the first shoot and has failed me on the last two I was on. I made sure I followed all the charging directions very carefully but still no luck. On my last shoot ( a team of 11 cheerleaders) I charged the pack the night before the AM shoot, I got to the site set up only to find my battery was mostly dead, luckily there was AC available. As a professional this can be disastrous for your reputation especially when large groups are involved. I can recommend the light head but avoid the standard battery pack (buy a good one separately). This manufacture has had battery problems in the past.
