About K 5600 K0400800JB+

Joker-Bug 400

The Joker-Bug 400 combines the characteristics of the BUG-LITE 400, a 400 Watt daylight HMI system without optic with those of the Joker 400, a PAR 46 fixture using a specular parabolic reflector and a set of 4 lenses. The Joker-Bug 400 is comparable to a 1500/2000W quartz fixture but with a power draw of only 5.5 Amps.

In the Bug-Lite mode (no optics) the main application is in traditional Lightbanks as well as Lanterns where it uses the sides as a large reflector, collecting the maximum output of the lamp and filling the front screen very evenly. It is very powerful in daylight interiors and can operate in any position including pointing straight down. The BEAMER optical accessory turns the BUG-LITE into a Joker-Bug, a directional PAR unit offering various beam patterns through quick lens changes.

The Joker-Bug 400 offers the most flexible optical configuration for location lighting by achieving Spot to Flood ratios of 80 to 1 with beam angles ranging from 5 degrees to 55 degrees. The Joker-Bug 400 is delivered with a Clear Glass Beaker when reaching for full intensity is important and a Frosted Glass Beaker when light quality is the prime concern.

The 400W MSR lamp was selected for its size/weight and the sizes/weights of the components needed to operate it. The MSR lamp with its GZZ 9.5 base is considerably smaller than the next traditional Wattage, the 575 (G22 base). The shorter arc gap of the 400 makes up for the difference of output between 400 and 575 and the lower Wattage does not require forced air cooling of the power supply.

Joker-Bug 800

The Joker Bug 800 represents a natural step for K 5600, an extension of its line of HMI daylight fixtures. After the enormous popularity of the 200 and the 400, the full f-Stop increment seemed logical. Another determining factor for the creation of this particular fixture size is the main power limitations associated with the location shooting.

The next size up (1200W) monopolizes a full circuit where as the Joker Bug 800 will allow for another source such as a 400 while delivering twice the output of that 400. The Joker Bug 800 is comparable to a 3200/4000 quartz fixture but with a power draw of only 12.5 Amps. In the Bug-Lite mode (no optics) the main application is in traditional Lightbanks as well as Lanterns where it uses the sides as a large reflector, collecting the maximum output of the lamp and filling the front screen very evenly.

It is very powerful in daylight interiors and can operate in any position including pointing down. The BEAMER optical accessory turns the BUG-LITE into a Joker Bug, a directional PAR unit offering various beam patterns through quick lens changes. The Joker Bug 800 offers the most flexible optical configuration for location lighting by achieving Spot to Flood ratios 55 to 1 with beam angles from as narrow as 5 degrees to as wide as 45 degrees.

K 5600 K0400800JB+ Features

  • Silent Multi-Voltage Power Supplies: The included Power Supplies are electronic, square wave, flicker free. AC input is 90-265 Volts, 50/60Hz. They are convection cooled.
  • Joker Bug 800: The Joker-Bug 800 fixture throws a beam of light of 5235 footcandles 1.5 feet in diameter from 20 feet, with the included spot lens. It throws a beam of 164 footcandles 16' in diameter (44° spread from origin) with its Super Wide lens mounted.
  • Joker Bug 400: The Joker-Bug 400 fixture throws a beam of light of 3860 footcandles 1' in diameter from 20 feet, with no lens mounted. It throws a beam of 47 footcandles 22' in diameter (44° spread from origin) with its Super Wide lens mounted.
  • Full Light Control: The Super Wide, Wide, Medium Flood, and Frosted Fresnel lenses, the Beakers, and 4 Leaf Barndoor Sets allow ample control over the shape, spread, and intensity of the light emitted from each fixture. Add an optional 3200° filter, and scrims for even more control.
  • Beamers and Softbox: The Beamers are detachable reflectors that intensify the light beam for 1-on-1 interviews. Remove the Beamer and mount the 16x22" softbox, which offers more output of light with no hot spots.
  • Three Wheeled Kit Cases: The wheeled hard kit cases are reinforced heavy duty, foam-lined, with ample room for all components. The lenses have their own cases.
