I have used this backpack for short (1-2 hours) photo walks. I find it confortable with the bottom compartment holding my Pentax k7, 3 small prime lenses and a tamron macro, and the top compartment a 55-300 zoom. It works very well for me, but if you have bulkier gear you may find that the backpack is too small. I find it more comfortable than a shoulder bag because the weight is evenly distributed and resting mostly on my waist, leaving both arms free to handle the camera.

After examining several KATA bags, I settled on this one because it was $40 less than another KATA bag I also liked. The camera compartment is well protected and is easy to arrange camera, lenses and accessories. I also liked the large top pocket which has organizers sewn into it. In addition, I like the 3 small pockets below the top pocket as well as the side pocket. I bought the pack with the laptop sleeve not because I'll take my laptop everywhere, but because I liked the add'l space for books, magazines, etc. Very well designed and will last forever!

I tried the sling packs and felt like I was being strangled. The Kata 467 is comfortable and easy to use and carry even if I only use one strap as a pseudo sling strap. Bright yellow lining makes finding everything a snap in bright day and low evening light.

The DR-467 Digital Rucksack features a unique TST RIB structural protection for two Pro D/SLR bodies with mounted lens, 3-4 lenses, flash, accessories, a laptop and personal gear. By removing the padded bottom camera insert you can easily convert this rucksack from a camera bag to a daypack when not shooting.
The main compartment holds a D/SLR in top grip position while the modular dividers system will separate, organize and protect lenses, flashes and other accessories to suit your particular needs. The dedicated padded laptop compartment will hold and protect up to a 17" laptop.
The large top compartment will hold personal gear or additional equipment, and the internal pockets and mp3 player pouch will allow you to organize your personal effects as efficiently as your photographic gear. Ample external pockets allow quick zippered access to supplies and a water bottle/ tripod support pocket pulls out from a side pocket.
Included rain cover folds neatly away into an integrated pocket and can be hung out to dry on the small buckle next to the handle, or tucked away for storage in one of thepockets. When carrying, a chest belt and balancing waist strap are available for ultimatecomfort, and the rucksack is also compatible with the Kata Insertrolley if wheel along transportation is needed.
