My first copy was defective and now the second works, but barely. Poor QC shows in construction and performance. Both copies have something inside that is loose and rattles when moved. Inconsistent performance because of loose fit and occasional loss of electric contact between camera and adapter.

First off, this is pretty much the only brand name Contax N adapter that offers electronic iris control, which is a necessity for N lenses. It is relatively well made, but for the price I would expect firmware updates and a tripod support mount. N lenses aren't heavy, but they are large, and particularly on a small Sony body the omission of a tripod socket is a mistake. The one bug I found on this lens is that it will restart a connected camera if the shutter is half-pressed and "auto focus on shutter" is enabled in the menu. Disabling this function of the Sony body fixes that problem, and otherwise the adapter seems to function as intended. Kipon, please update this adapter with updatable firmware and a tripod socket, you will have a winner on your hands!

Nowadays, as the number of people using interchangeable lens digital cameras increases, proprietary combinations of camera lenses and bodies are no longer able to satisfy the increasingly sophisticated demands of the many photography enthusiasts. The use of lens adapters have given users full rein of customizing their equipment to best fulfill their needs through different combinations of lenses and camera bodies.
However, although individual camera manufacturers havecreated their own customized adapters, combining lenses and camera bodies of different manufacture has become an ever expanding challenge. At KIPON, a world-renown camera adapter manufacturer, we have developed over 400 types of adapters. With our various adapters, we offer our users the freedom and compatibility of lenses and camera bodies that transcends different times and manufacturers. We have made possible not only the interchangeable use of products across brands but also the use of traditional film lenses.
KIPON offers a full line of camera lens adapters including macro adapters, electronic adapters, adapters with integrated glass, optical focal reduction adapters, adapters with built in aperture control, tilt/shift adapters, tilt adapters, and shift adapters.
The KIPON CN1-NEX E electronic adapter mounts Contax N series lenses on Sony NEX series mirrorless camera bodies. Please note that after mounting the adapteronly manual focus will be accessible when shooting.
This adapter is directly powered by the camera body, when the aperture is controlled with the camera body, the aperture value of the lens will be shown inreal time, there are two ways for the adapter to control lens aperture. When the aperture on the lens is set to the larges aperture, the camera body canbe set to control the lens aperture and automatic exposure will be available.
When the aperture on the lens is set any smaller than the largest, the camera body can not be set to control the aperture, you will only be able to set the lens aperture in manual mode, in this case, the aperture will be adjusted by thelens aperture ring. If you want to adjust the aperture via camera body again, then you just need to return the lens aperture to its largest aperture.
All KIPON adapters undergo the CNC turning center procedure during manufacturing to provide our customers with only the utmost precision and quality. We guarantee an ideal fitting between cameras and lenses to maintain the ease and accuracy of photography. All adapters are made of brass brass and/or aluminum alloy.
Please note that not all camera models and lenses are compatible with this adapter. Please take extra care when attempting to use any adapter with wide angle and fisheye lenses. Please contact our lens specialists if you have any questions regarding compatibility.
