Questions & Answers

Shopper : can you use this product with a Canon Rebel Xti camera?JOHN M : Yes. As fast as the rebel will ever need.DARRYL R : Yes, you can. I have several Canon SLRs and I use the card on all of them.MARK M : It will work with the XTi but the speed will not improve on that old camera. I don't think it can support UDMA speeds. EDMOND B : sure i use it with 70d....works just great no complaintsHOWARD S : The short answer to you question is yes. You can use the Kingston Compact Flash 16 GB with the Canon XTi the question becomes do you need the 600x speed with that camera body I don't think that you do, you should be able to get away with using 400x if Kingston still manufactures it.
KEITH S : Two questions ... 1. This will work in a Canon 7D? 2. What's the difference between a card that says '600x' and a card that says '60mb/s'?LAWRENCE D : Keith Yes thee cards work in a 7D. I ahve had great success shooting sports with these cards. I am not sure how the 600x compares with other cards. As far as i know there is no standard for the card speed, i use the speed to compare products within a particular brandVANESSA K : 1) It should work in any camera that uses a CF Card. Be sure to format it before using it. 2) I think the "600X" is just Kingston's way of designating a category that is comparable to '60mb/s'. Additionally, for a 7D, I would look for a card that has "UDMA" somewhere on it. The Kingston 16GB is, ultimately, an okay card, but if you're looking for RAW speed, a UDMA designated card will work best.MARC C : 1. I use this card with my Canon 7D and it works just fine. 2. The compact flash transfer rate follows the formula R=speed rating x 150 kbytes/sec. So, a rating of 600x yields a transfer rate of approximatley 90 Mbytes/sec.DESHKO G : 1) It works with a 7D but this card is deceptively slow. Check out the PixelFlash 16GB 600x compactflash CF card for a faster, more reliable compact flash card at a lower price. 2) 600x equals 90mb/s, 400x equals 60 mb/sROGER W : First I'll say... This card is 90mb/s not 60mb/s #1 I have a canon 1D mk4 that it works gr8 in and also a old 40d... Im sure it should work gr8 in a 7d also. #2 600x is a reference to the first cards that where made... So it is a one way of saying how fast it is when compared to other cards... Ie. 133x. 60 mb/s is the the speed the really transfer speed. That means it can read and write at that speed. Thought most card are often a bit slower writing then reading. This card is very fast and has never given me any problems. I have shot thousands of images on it. I use it as my main card and love it. hope this helps you.JERALD W : Cards work fine in the Canon 7D. Card has some problems with certain operating system or card readers. My desktop HP Pavilion will not recognize the card when inserted into the internal card reader. Nor will my Toshiba Satellite laptop. Cards do however work fine in my sons desktop computer. I sent both cards back to Kingston and after some discussion they sent me two new cards. The new cards do not work in both my laptop and desktop. They do however work in my sons desktop. I tried using the cards with an external card reader in both units and that did not correct the problem. I have the cards sitting in my camera gear bag and consider them unusable. Some card manufacturers us an “x” multiplier. Multiply the x number by 150 kilobytes-per-second to get the speed in megabytes-per-second. So, 400x represents a write speed of 60MB/s (400 times 150KB). Other manufacturers skip the math and simply lists their speeds in MB/s.FRED C : #1 I think it should work on a cannon 7D, I shoot Nikon cameras and it works fine. D3s & D300. #2 600X is the speed of the read & write times of the card. I believe this is about 90mbs. Go to Kingston web site & there should be specs for the card & explanations of the terms. I use these cards & SanDisk Extreme Pros & Transend & Delkin. I like the Delkin UMBA 6 best. Good Luck Fred

Rated 5 out of 5

Excellent for the price

This is my fourth flash card from this company and I never had any trouble of lost file or pictures. It is not as fast as UDMA newest card but for wedding and studio shoot this is perfect. I do some video with my 5DMKII and I never had problem with the speed. If you shoot raw contnuously for sport action, you will be better with faster card, if not this is perfect for the price.

SLOW

I agree with the other two reviews. These cards are consistently over rated. They are cheap and, at least in this case, you get what you pay for. Don't buy this card.

Disappointing

Having used an older Kingston CF card without problems, I purchased this one with the hope of reducing lag between shutter bursts with my Canon 40D. I didn't notice ANY difference between this card's performance and a Sandisk that I have which is rated at half the speed. But the worst problem I encountered was an unexpected loss of all data after changing a battery on the camera. I had about 20 shots on the card at the time. As you should always do with new memory cards, I formatted mine when I first put it in the camera. It managed data easily, even if it wasn't as fast as I expected. But after I changed the battery on the camera one day, I received an error message stating that I needed to reformat the card, which of course meant I lost all of those shots. I have not had that problem with any other card I've used, including the older Kingston. Additionally, I've continued to use this card on less significant shots and have not had any other issues. However, because of that one episode of lost data, I no longer feel confident using this card for anything important. Granted, Kingston has developed a technology to presumably enable one to recover lost card data, but I would prefer to own a card that does not have that weakness. Like the previous reviewer, I will be using other, more reliable brands.
