Shopper : Does this fit the 70-200 Fl or whatever the new 70-200 is called?MICHAEL G J : It fits the 70-200 f2.8 ED VR II. Unless Nikon changed the mount for their foot, it should work. The Kirk website updates their product list of compatible lenses, those that work with their feet, as new lenses are introduced. A look at their site should verify compatibility.
Shopper : I am looking for the little plate that attaches to the foot and to the lens, it locks into foot?GREGORY D : This replaces the Nikon foot that came with the lens. This foot has an arca Swiss mount, instead of the standard tripod mount of the Nikon foot. Hope that helps.THOMAS G : YesJAMES T : Yes. I nw use this foot instead of the original. The knob is easier to turn as it is much bigger.MORGAN K : Yes. this is the plate. it snaps into place and the knob in the pictures tightens it. It locks onto the lens collar and is compatible with Arca Swiss clamps. A less expensive solution is to bolt an Arca Swiss plate to the existing Nikon foot.GRAHAM B : I use this plate with my Nikon 70-200 lens. It attaches to the lens by pressing a safety release catch, slide it onto the lens and then you tighten a screw to secure it in place. It has a standard size foot plate that I use with by ball head mounts. Construction is good and I have had no problems in using it.WILLIAM P : If your tripod head accepts Arca-Swiss plates, then this lens foot will attach directly without the need for another plate. If not, then you will have to order a plate to fit the type of tripod head system that you own. This can vary widely with different brands (such as Manfrotto) and even with different heads of the same brand.
H.S. G : will this lens plate balance with a D-810 and battery grip on a Jobu Pro 2 gimbal head?RONALD E : Yes, barely. You will need to orient your gimbal head so that the arm is on the left side of the camera (when viewed from the back of the camera). You need to do this because with the arm on the right side of the camera (the preferred orientation), the hand grip on the right side of the camera body runs into the knob that adjusts the vertical height of the camera mount and you can't slide the camera far enough forward to achieve balance. With the gimbal arm in this position, your access to the lens mode buttons as well as zoom and focus rings is somewhat limited. Also, you will need to remove the rear stop screw on the bottom of the foot that prevents the foot from sliding out of the mount in order to get the lens far enough forward to achieve balance (slightly risky because the camera and lens can now slide forward out the mount). Finally, if you are also planning to use extenders, you will need to bolt a quick release plate under the foot to move the rig far enough to achieve balance.RICHARD E : Error correction to my last post. My monoball like all I have seen has a slot for the neck of the ball to allow rotation to 90 degrees vertical. With the d810 plus battery pack you can get about 80 degrees elevation. The battery pack impinges on the tripod (Gitzo 6X).RICHARD E : No experience with the Jobu. But I think highly likely it will work just fine. I just put mu d810 with battery pack (with EN-EL15 battery not rechargeable AA's) on my Z1 Monoball and it balances perfectly with a wide range of adjustment. Vertical elevation of my setup on the monoball is limited to 45 degrees elevation only by the monoball clamp hitting the monoball base, not by the lens foot or battery pack in any position.JOE A : I have a D3 and a Nest Gimbal and it will balance on it. You just have to slide back and forth until you find a balance spot. If not, Kirk makes an additional plate that is longer that you can install on the gimbal and then attach your lens to it with the quick release plate.JON C : Not sure if this helps, but I use this with D600 on Markins Q-3 Traveler ball head and it balances just fine.

Perfect replacement for standard Nikon Foot

I either had to buy a mounting plate to go on my 70-200 VRII stock foot, or purchase this foot with the Arca Swiss rails. Glad I went with this arrangement. A bit pricey, but rock solid and very well made. It's about 1/8" shorter than the the Nikon foot WITHOUT the plate. So, call it about 3/8" shorter overall depending on which type of plate you would put on the Nikon foot. Highly recommended.

Fantastic accessory

If you use Arca-Swiss cmapls on your tripod or monopod heads, this is a great accessory to have. The foot is well-made and easy to install. It saves a lot of time over screwing in a plate to the OEM foot.
