Shopper : will it work with the original VR? please note that my lens is not the VR2 Thank you, NormanJOE F : Hi Norman. I do not know if it will work on V1 as I only have V2. But it sure is bigger and so much easier to losen and tighten. JoeDANE R : No, Kirk warns that this knob will NOT fit the original Mk I lens.TOM M : This is what the manufacturer says on their web site ... " Anyone who has used the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR2 AFS lens knows how difficult and awkward it is to grip the knob that comes standard with the lens. Now you can supplement that knob and make it usable. The knob does not fit the VR series one lens." The last line says it all ...ERIC B : I think it would. Compare the two stock Nikon knobs - I thought they were the same. The Kirk button just fits OVER the existing stock knob and an Allen tightens it down. Not 100% sure, but I think so. ERIC G : No, this will not work with the original 70-200 VR lens.
Shopper : How does the Kirk modified knob fasten to the existing Nikon 70-200 II knob ?SCOTT O : It fits over the stock knob and attaches with 2 hex nuts. Very secure and a bit easier to use.JOE F : Slips over the original knob and tightens with a set screw. It is excellent.ERIC G : There are two little set screws that tighten onto the existing knob. Works great.

Its all about the thumbs.

The Kirk modified know is much smoother to use and offers a mechanical advantage due to increase in leverage. Very simple, effective and should last the life of the lens.

Nice Big Knob

Attaches over the existing knob with two allen set screws. Nice and big. Good upgrade to the original knob. You don't have to search for this. It's easy to find and use.
