Questions & Answers

Shopper : Is this film expired?AMANDA D : Film is most likely not expired. And most film won't actually go bad unless kept in extreme hot and cold temperatures. Also, I've heard of really awesome photos resulting from "expired" film.KENNETH R : The film expiration date will be stamped on the box.JAMES A : If you buy it from Adorama it hasn't expired - it's still fresh. Or did you mean discontinued? Of course it isn't discontinued. It's a great filmMICHAEL M : If the film has been refrigerated or frozen it should be usable. If left out in high temperatures it may be not so good.RANDALL B : The expiration date for each batch of film is printed on its box. That date applies to normal storage at room temperature. If the film has been stored in a hot car for example, it will expire before the printed date. If film is stored in a freezer at a temperature below 32F, it essentially does not age so the expiration date is not pertinent.SAM G : Can't speak for Adorama's current stock, but Kodak does still produce TXP Pro.ERICA B : I keep my film refrigerated (when not in use), but it shoots fine otherwise.
bacou l : hello do you have any dvelopper and recommandation time to developp this film into jobo at 24°?RANDALL B : Testing is REQUIRED to determine your "normal" (N) development time, "plus" times (N+1, N+2) and "minus" times (N-1, N-2). There is no alternative to testing using your personal development procedure. I develop Tri-X in HC-110(B) with a presoak, tray-development procedure at 68F and shuffle through the stack once every 30 sec. My development times are: N-2 = 4min 0sec; N-1 = 5min 0sec; N = 6min 10sec; N+1 = 7min 30sec; and N+2 = 9min 0sec.Glen H : Kodak's suggested starting-point for TXP Professional (in sheet) is 6 minutes at 20°C (68°F) using either XTOL or D-76 and 3 1/4 minutes in HC-110 (dilution b). Please note, these are starting-points, processing times will vary. Also, these times are for tray processing, KODAK gives no recommendations for rotary processing for this sheet film nor do they have a recommended time or developer for 24°C(75°F).

Coupled with D-76 or HC 110 delivers high dynamic range. Very printable.KIMBERLY S : For school. The greatest B&W film of all time,

Tri X Pro is my favorite all purpose film of all time. It never lets you down. I use it in 4x5, 5x7 and 8x10. Please tell Kodak to begin make 50 sheet boxes available again in 8x10.

Predictable large format film.

Wonderfully predictable and flexible film. Holds detail in the shadows and resists blow out in the highlights.

This is a great film for medium format cameras

This is a great film for medium format cameras. The quality of the photos is great. Using a 4 x 5 view camera this film is fast and gives great tonal range. It is a bit pricey.

One of the greatest B&W films ever

Tri-X is great for any b&w photography. It works well with almost any type developer, has great tonal range and almost no grain.

Simply the Best!

I´ve been using this film for 20 years. I´ve tried and tested others to compare but NONE come close to the tonal range that this film can provide in the craziest of lighting situations. It´s the Rolls Royce of B X W films!

Great film, I would buy it again

With ISO 320, my camera can be set at higher speed. That help to reduce vibration. Images still look great when enlarging to 20 x 24 inches.

A tried and true gem: 4x5 Tri X 320

Our advanced black and white class deals with learning the intricacies of the 4x5 view camera, and for this class, we shoot 4x5 Tri-X. This is a serious, professional-level program, and we are expected to produce work on a professional level. There are newer emulsions available, but it's hard to find one that gives the beautiful look of properly-exposed Tri-X develpoed in full strength D76. It's absolutely gorgeous, and enlarges to huge dimensions without visible grain. One hint: it works better if you set your meter to ISO 160 and expose and develop accordingly. The negatives are absolutely beautiful, and seeing the finished work after enlarging is its own reward. Obviously, 4x5 sheet film is not the stuff for action shots. The average photographer is NOT going to try to capture action with a view camera, but it makes for gorgeous portraits and scenincs.
