Questions & Answers

Peter S : Is this Kodak T-Max 100 (in 120 size) recently manufactured? I know Kodak had stopped manufacturing this film (in 120 size) for a while due to a production problem.Sean B : Adorama will let you know about the limited amount of expired film they sell, usually I get two years on the best by life.ANDREW R : Film from Adorama is sold "in date" and fresh unless explicitly noted as "short dated" or expired. The actual date is unknown until the package is pulled for shipment. I believe that affected batches were pulled from the supply chain some time ago. Currently available Tmax 100 should not have the backing paper issue.
Shopper : The film I am looking for has to say "C41" on it so I can have it developed/processed at a Photo Finish lab. Is this film C41? If so I would like to purchase it. I look forward to your response. Thanks, LisaCHRISTOPHER B : No this film is not developed with c41 processing. There are a number of very good black and processing labs you can find on the webYONGRAN Z : I have been using Tmax 100 seriously with developer D76 since I learned the darkroom techniques from John Sexton 15 years ago. He helped Kodak to develop this film with D76 as standard developer. I don't think it can be developed by C41.DENISE C : No, this film requires standard black & white film processing.DANIEL S : Nope. This is a terrific black and white film but it cannot be developed in color chemistry, also know as C-41. For that you will need color negative film like Kodak Portra as an example. However, you can still shoot black and white if you want. Kodak BW400CN or Ilford XP2 are both black and white films that use C-41 chemistry for developing. Only Ilford XP2 is available in 120 roll film while both are available in 35mm. Hope this helps.ROBERT Y : This file is not designed for C41 process, so will not respond well. It requires a black & white developer.SAT KARTAR S K : This is not a C41 process film, black and white film developers are used to process this film. What you are looking for is Kodak BW400CN or Ilford XP2 Super, both are black and white film processed in c41 chemicals.ROBERT C : Kodak Tmax films are not C-41 processed. My favorite developer for this film is Kodak Xtol which is easy to mix and use.ANTHONY R : No. This is true B&W film.DAVID G : This film is Not C-41. You would need to look for a color print film.ERIC D : Any photo lab should be able to process this film. It is not C-41 processing, that is commonly a process used for color films, but a few black and white films also require this type of processing, Ilford XP2, KodakBW400CN, and Konica VX400 are the most popular. They are actually black and white films made using color processes. You are safe to purchase this and bring it into any lab.REBECCA M : Hi Lisa, this i a "real" black and white film and can´t de processed with C41. It needs a different process. If you develop it in C41, it will come out blank. You might want to look into the Ilford XP2 or the Kodak BW 400 CN. Thy are chromogen black and white films which are processed through C41. Hope that helped.JAMES A : The only C41 processing black and white films are Kodak BW400CN (available only in 35mm size) and Ilford XP2 (available in 120 format as well as 35mm size).RICHARD B : This is not what you are looking for. Try Kodak BW400CN (ASA 400) or Ilford HP2 (also ASA 400) those are the only ones I know of. I use the T-Max but process it myself. (not too hard to do)RAYMOND M : Sorry to say this is not C41. However I think you can mail this right here for processing or Walmart. They send items to Fuji labs and they can do this work.STEPHEN M. S : No. This is true B & W film that has to be developed in B & W chemicalsDAVID P : This is not a C41 processed film. I believe Ilford makes one.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?ALLEN G : I use a Holga pinhole panorama camera with 100 iso film and have not used this product and will give it a try.TODD S : It is a good price for high quality film.MARK F : I've always used Kodak b and w. AlwaysWILLIAM M : great film!Patrick G : I like this filmJACK S : High resolution, fine grain, good shadow detailERICH S : TMX 100 is my standard B&W film to use with my RB67Giovanni P : Nice sharpness of the grain.TIM K : Always my first choice for B&W studio portrait photography.Scott D : High detail for landscape photosKEVIN D : Because I needed to get my cart to qualify for free shipping, and I needed it.William M : Ease of order and rewards.FRED D : TMX is my go-to filmKEN M : finest kindMARIA E : I shoot film in my pinhole cameras and Kodak T-Max 100 is my favorite B&W film.HUNG C : Try it out.TONY B : Great productStephen G : yummyJAMES C : Great film!WILLIAM K : Finest grain available that I can process myself. As good as Ilford 50 with twice the speed.ROBERT S : I shoot 35mm, 6x7, and 4x5. I use TMAX 100 for black and white and PORTA 160 for color. It's good to have the same films in all three sizes.TOM L : I like the grainPAUL P : dependableMARK F : It's a great film that I have been using for over 35 years.JOSEPH F : Convenient to order with product already selectedPAUL K : Beautiful and smooth rendering / fine grain. My favorite film!RICHARD V : detail/resolutionDONALD B : I've never used the 120 size of this film but it's my understanding that it is the finest grained B&W film on the market.LARRY L : Have used for years.

Top of the line black and white film.

Top of the line black and white film. This is my absolute favorite film stock for black and white photography. The Tmax grain is really esthetically pleasing and the dynamic range in the tones is awesome. Sometimes I'll switch to the ISO 400 just for more grain. Love this stuff!

Great film and pleasant purchase

TMAX 100 is one of my favorite films. I love the look of the film and the almost invisible grain in 120 size film. The purchase from Adorama is always a pleasant experience and I have been dealing with them for ages. Generally, get all my film and chemicals from them. Indeed, I'm writing this review on a computer that I purchased through them ages ago. I highly recommend TMX 100 in 120 and Adorama as the vendor to buy it from.

TMAX films, for always stunning tonality and deeper mid tones.

This film has consistently smooth tonality. When developed with XTOL or HC110, and exposed a touch toward the shadow side, it reminds me of the beautiful tonalities achieved with film stocks from the 60?s and 70?s, that had slightly more of a silvery almost brown tonality to them. You can see great examples on my site, if that helps. I?m at damonpablo dot com and am always open to sharing information with others. Thx Adorama!

My favorite B&W film

T-Max 100 and 400 are two of the finest films I've used. The grain is attractive and it's extremely forgiving on exposure as well as pushing.

Great 100 ISO Negative Film Stock

Well, it's a slow B&W film. And it works great. Surprise surprise. Grain is very fine, not the finest but I actually really like this middle ground. In terms of contrast, I've found it to be on the more contrasty side, but that could totally be dependent on the chemicals my lab uses. I definitely like this look and will most likely buy again in the coming months.

Top choice in B/W film

This is my go to B/W film. I shoot 100 ISO unless there is a very good reason to use a faster ISO film. This stuff has been great since it first came out. Great tones and very fine grain produce fantastic prints.

Wish I could Add my developed photos!! For T-Max 100 Kodak film, but I will.

Kodak film has always been good and I see no reason to think other wise. I hope to finish using the film soon so I can develop it with Kodak developers, stop bath and fixer, Along with clearing agent probably as well. It’s great that Kodak has all the products still available to do analog, or as it’s properly known, film photography. Kodak’s products work well together and have a high rate of consistent performance, especially when used together. If you’re planning on getting into film photography, Go for it ! Be sure to try a few different system And be sure to regularly use Kodak! You won’t be disappointed!

I love this product!!

By Kate

I use this product for my black and white photography class and always have good results! This product is best used for shooting outdoors with a good amount of light. If you do shoot indoors, make sure you have your camera placed firmly on some sort of base or your image will blur a little. I love how my prints turn out with this film and won't use any other kind for my class.

Great film!!!! Super impressed by this black and white film. You can see the grain in the pictures but it looks like very fine and good in the black and white pictures you take with this film. Definitely a well priced black and white film and I was impressed with the results!

KODAK T-MAX 100 Professional Film is a continuous-tone panchromatic black-and-white negative film for general outdoor and indoor photography. It is especially useful for detailed subjects when you need maximum image quality. It is also excellent for copying black-and-white photographs, for making black-and-white copies from color transparencies, and for photomicrography. This film features medium speed (ISO 100/21 Degree in most developers), extremely high sharpness, extremely fine grain, and very high resolving power.

You can also use T-MAX 100 Professional Film to produce high-quality black-and-white slides from camera-original exposures, continuous-tone photographs, drawings, artwork, and radiographs when you process it with the KODAK T-MAX 100 Direct Positive Film Developing Outfit. The T-MAX Outfit also lets you use this film to produce copy negatives from black-and-white or color negatives, to make duplicate black-and-white slides, or to make black-and-white slides from color slides.

Kodak T-Max 100 TMX Features

  • KODAK T-GRAIN Emulsion that reshapes pebble-like crystals into a tabular form with more surface to catch light
  • Allows films with extremely fine grain to be made faster; high-speed films have finer grain. T-MAX Professional Films offer the best of both worlds: high speed and fine grain
  • Improved sharpness
  • Maintains subject detail in prints at higher degrees of magnification than conventional films
  • Expanded exposure latitude
  • Greater "forgiveness" with overexposure errors; quality prints from moderately under- or overexposed negatives
  • Better highlight separation
  • Improved reciprocity at long and short exposure times
  • Less compensation required than with conventional films
  • 120-size film coated on a thicker (4.7-mil) base than other black-and-white roll films
  • Improved dimensional stability; easier darkroom handling
  • Virtually no difference between the daylight and tungsten film speeds
  • No need to adjust exposure for different light sources
  • More responsive to zone-system development changes
  • Smaller time adjustments needed
  • No increase in processing time required for one-stop "push" with most developers
  • No need to segregate one-stop-pushed film from normally exposed film. You can mix normal exposures and one-stop-pushed exposures on the same roll. (You may want to use paper one-half grade higher in contrast to print one-stop-pushed exposures.)
  • Less development-time increase required for film pushed by two or more stops
  • Saves processing time
  • Processed in standard developers, including KODAK T-MAX Developer and KODAK T-MAX RS Developer and Replenisher
  • No need for a special developer. You can process T-MAX Professional Films with other black-and-white films
  • T-MAX 100 Professional Film--excellent for use in copy applications with normal exposure and processing
  • No need for contrast adjustment or special processing
  • T-MAX 100 Professional Film--high-quality black-and-white slides with processing in the T-MAX 100 Direct Positive Film Developing Outfit
  • Reversal applications with shorter processing times
