Great for macro work!

Great help to my macro work with my Nikon Z6 II (with F to Z lens adapter). I only wish the box had more charts and guides to see how large the image would be when the extension tubes are applied. The chart I got was for a 50mm lens. I would like to use these tubes to create images larger than 1:1 (which I can get with my Sigma 105mm macro lens. But I would like to know specifically how much larger I can go with the tubes. I'd like to have 2:1 or even 5:1!

As perfect as can be

Perfect fit- the best. My previous (cheap) set locked my lens to it and it took me several days to detach it. This one is smooth as silk.

Well built and excellent performance

Big improvement with its metal construction over the DSLR version that is mostly plastic. Very solid support for the mounted lens. Zero issues with it in use with the Z9 camera.

Improve you macro

These are for the RF lens. They is still the best macro extension tubes, but they are stiffer than my previous Kenko set for my ES lens. They do the job and they do it well.

Great alternative to a dedicated macro lens

I wanted to check out macro before having the expense of a dedicated macro lens. These are perfect with my Canon 50mm lens and work so well that I don't think I'll even bother with the macro. I shoot jewelry so my subjects don't move. I was told AF would not work with these, but it does. Not a feature I'd use often, but nice to know it does work.

Really fun, a little wiggly.

Really decent for the price. Autofocus worked for the g-master 16-35 I was using. The only improvement I can think of is that there is a tiny bit of wiggle at the connection to the lenses. I?d be a lot happier if it was a nice, snug fit.

Inexpensive, and they work

They work. Since no glass, there's no degradation in image quality. Manual focus, but I like the control of manual focus.

No worth it for the money

For the price they should not wobble when attached to the lens or camera and they should come with a sack for protection or carrying.

Kenko Extension Tubes

Bought these as a back-up, I use these a lot on a zoom. I still shoot film + other units don't register f-stops on my EOS 3 bodies but these do. I do use mainly Canon, but couldn't justify the price.

Great Buy

I wanted to experiment with macro photography and wanted to try an extender ring. This seemed like it might be a good set to try. Not knowing what to expect, I opened this set when it arrived and was pleasantly surprised. The quality was excellent. They fit tightly and worked great.

Cannot stack the three tubes

The tubes do not firmly latch allowing a little bit of twist. It is okay for one tube, but with three tubes, some of the electrical contacts do not make contact. If you can apply a little torque to keep the lens in the as-closed-as-possible position, it works, but that is difficult to do while keeping your hands off the camera to avoid jiggles. :( So no 68mm extension.

Much less expensive that a new lens.

Fit is tight and they work great! Only draw back is the short focal range, but they work the way they are supposed to, and am very happy with my results.

The non-cheap-o quality standard extension tubes

I like the feel of putting these on my camera and connecting it to my lenses. Nice firm feel of mounting and dismounting them with the finger lever put on each tube.

Does the job, but feels flimsy

I bought these to use with my 200mm Macro lens and they do the job but feel very flimsy. It is sometimes difficult to get the lens attached also and there is a strange rattling noise that comes from them.

Good value

Appear to be well made. Used all three with a 105 sigma macro and am pleased with the results. I would buy them again

Nice set

By DARIN M.

I use these tubes when I want to get close to very small subjects. Depth of field is greatly reduced so you need to use a high F number (smaller aperture). Flash is also helpful but not always necessary.

versatile, inexpensive way to try macro

By TOM C.

I got the Kenko extension tubes set to try my hand at macro photography with my Nikon D5000. I mostly use the Nikon 55-200mm VR lens for this purpose, and find that it works very well with these extension tubes. The Kenko DG tubes are electronically fully compatible with Nikon AF-S lenses. Metering is fully supported with these tubes and you can even auto-focus if you like. I have tried both auto-focusing and manually focusing in Live mode with the Adorama budget focusing rails. I'm not sure ...

Extension tubes are designed to enable a lens to focus closer than its normal set minimum focusing distance. Getting closer has the effect of magnifying your subject (making it appear larger in the viewfinder and in your pictures). They are exceptionally useful for macro photography, enabling you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining its original optical quality.

The extension tubes have no optics. They are mounted in between the camera body and lens to create more distance between the lens and film plane. By moving the lens farther away from the film or CCD sensor in the camera, the lens is forced to focus much closer than normal. The greater the length of the extension tube, the closer the lens can focus.

The KENKO AUTO EXTENSION TUBE SET contains three tubes of different length, a 12 mm, 20 mm, and 36 mm, which can be used individually or in any combination to obtain the desired magnification. Kenko also makes a UNITUBE 12 mm or 25 mm which can be purchased individually.

Kenko's Auto Focus extension tubes are designed with all the circuitry and mechanical coupling to maintain auto focus and TTL auto exposure with most Canon, Nikon, and Minolta lenses given there is enough light to activate the cameras AF system properly.

Please Note;
1. When using extension tubes the lens will not focus to infinity. The focus range will be greatly limited to a very close focusing distance.
2. There is light fall off when using any extension tube, sometimes the equivalent of 3 f-stops of light is lost when using multiple extension tubes together. This light lost can affect the camera's ability to auto focus. Manual focusing is recommended should the lens begin to "hunt" (not lock onto the subject).

DG Series
New DG Series have upgraded "Gated-Array" circuitry to work better with the digital SLR's and some of the new digital only lenses. They still work the same with film SLR Cameras and lenses as well
