Just What I Was Looking For!

It's a great product! I was looking for something more comfortable and unobtrusive than the usual generic Canon strap - and this is it. I don't even realize I'm wearing it most of the time. I shoot a lot of sporting events (indoors & outdoors) and this Leica strap doesn't impede my photography at all like my Canon strap did. In short, it is downright comfortable to wear. I did have a problem attaching it to my Canon 40D though. The shutter button side of my Canon has a recessed strap attachment anchor that the Leica strap clip could not connect to. I had no problem at all attaching this strap to the left side of my 40D but, due to the size/design of the Leica strap clip, it was physically impossible to attach it to the right side. I had to use a small round keyring to attach to the camera anchor first, then the strap clip to the keyring. It works great but would have preferred to attach it directly to the camera. It also took some time to find the right size keyring.

Not for D5100

This will not go on to a Nikon D5100. The strap seems to be a fine strap but I had to return it before I got to use it. It was recommended on a professional photographer's website and this is why I purchased it.

Conversion

By

Bought this to cut it in half, and use it as a wrist strap - largely because I liked the way the original strap connected to the Leica body rings. Was a bit difficult to get the strap back through the plastic part allows you to shorten / lengthen the strap (as it was then three layers of the nylon strap going through something meant for one or two layers at most) but once through, very solid. The strap gets wider (widest underneath the rubber anti slip pad) in the middle. It is one continuous piece of nylon with the anti slip pad molded around it, very easy to cut off.

Leica Strap 14312

By

from Mesa, AZ  -  Photo Enthusiast

It is a strap; what more is there to say. Just kidding! This is a great strap, tough synthetic with tight "keepers" and an easy installation, so it also removes quickly should there be a need. The strap is quite generous in length, which to me anyway, is an important feature. I use many of these on old Canon A-1's, EF and AE-1 35mm film cameras. Oh and of course they are PERFECT for 1950's-60's Rangefinder cameras too, such as the Leica M3 et al. The Leica logo is in slightly raised letters on the studded rubber shoulder strap, and is difficult to read from a distance; this is not a bad thing. ("unwanted attention?") These straps are a bit pricey at $44 HOWEVER they are built to last a lifetime. They will hande a lot of weight and would even work well for larger, heavier DSLR's. (If you have very old, worn, leather straps, buy these and replace your old straps before one gives way and your camera crashes to the ground.) On my chromed-finished cameras, such as the small digital Fuji X100s and 35mm film Leica M3's, I attach a piece of Velcro FELT to the sides of the cameras to prevent the plastic "keeer" from wearing the body. One last note. This strap is for cameras with lugs that have round holes in them, and NOT for cameras that have the "rectangular" bar type attachment where the entire strap fits through the wide slot in the strap. The strap ends cannot be opened up to fit through the slots anyway.

Works For Panasonic G5

By

from Chicago, IL  -  Photo Enthusiast

I bought this based on site reviews. I was unsure if it would work on the flat strap holder on my G5, but took a chance, and it works fine. It does not fit on my G3, which has a slightly smaller strap holder. The beauty of this strap is the simplicity of it. Nothing to break, and it is long enough to go over my right shoulder and across my chest so the camera rides on my left hip. The only downside is that it clings a bit when swinging the camera upwards to take a shot, but it is not a shot ruining cling.

For me, it's perfect

By

from Montana  -  Photo Enthusiast

The perfect design--so simple and elegant. Some have said it's too flimsey but it's just right as you can easily bunch it up and put it with the camera in your pocket or bag--but it's totally strong and flexible for comfortable wear. I have it on my Fuji X-100 and they are made for each other. Never a worry that it will scratch or mar the camera. Also easy on and easy off---bravo Leica!

It Works

By

from Michigan  -  Photography Student

I purchased this strap for my M3. It is not leather as it should be, but it holds the camera securely, and it is reasonably comfortable.

Cheesy

By

from Atlanta  -  Semi-pro Photographer

A thin nylon strap and a narrow shoulder "pad" scarcely large enough for the word "Leica" which would be the only reason for buying this overpriced item.

over priced and not worth the money

By

from reno, nv  -  Pro Photographer

don't be fooled by these photos or others positive reviews this strap is not all everyone says it is. cheap plastic rubber anti slip pad. also the eyelets put a nice big scratch on my brand new x100s when installing it. If I didn't pay rush shipping to get this item that so many people said was amazing I would return it. its junk don't waste your money.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Will this strap work well with my Nikon d5100 dslr camera ?
BRUCE B  The strap will work perfectly well with a Nikon or pretty much any other camera.
ani a  Will this strap fit my Sony a77? Do you know maximum weight camera+lens I can trust to this strap? Thank you.
STEVEN A. M  This should fit your camera since the sizes of the cameras are about the same (M9 = 593 g; Sony A77 = 653g - 60g = about 2 ounces). As for your lenses and camera combination, I am not sure how big a lens you are using. My guess is that it would work. If you really want a quality strap that works with all forms of DSLRs, consider upstraps. These are the Cadillacs of straps. If I was in your position (and again, please understand that this is my opinion as an amateur photographer), I would take a chance. The strap is solid and the way that attachment is done is top notch. I trust Leica stuff compared to Sony or even Nikon. Hope that this helps.
tuan P  WOuld you recommend using this trap for the Nikon D800 with a prime lens (300 g)? thanks
CHRISTOPHER B  Definitely!
