I wanted a great pair of lenses for birding and nature viewing. These Acadias are amazingly clear and bright even at dusk. I compared them to many different models and makes and they matched the quality of lenses costing 3 times as much. What I really liked about this model is the smooth, quick focus and the diopter is placed just under the knob. Sometimes I bump it out of adjustment but no design is perfect. The twist up eye cups have 3 positions and are comfortable. What I don't like is the lens covers suck, the strap is ichey and you must twist down the eye cups to fit the binos in the case. I think this forces you to adjust them more then necessary and I am concerned about excessive wear. This can be fixed with a better case and covers Leupold!

The Leupold Green Ring Acadia 8x42mm Binocular is the first to combine the handling characteristics of a roof prism binocular with the performance and price of a porro prism design. It's true; most people prefer the look and feel of a roof prism binocular, but many find themselves moving to a porro prism binoculars when balancing the need for superior image quality with a reduced price.
Fully multi-coated lenses provide enhanced photopic transmission, which in turn provides a bright crisp image. The well balanced, roof-prism design makes the Leupold binoculars comfortable and easy to hold, even during periods of prolonged viewing.
Ergonomic placement of the diopter adjustment lever on the center focus wheel makes adjusting diopter settings to meet each user's specific needs fast and easy. Armored, waterproof and nitrogen filled, Leupold Green Ring Acadia 8 x 42 Binoculars are well protected against field conditions.
