it was worth waiting for

I already have a few Lee's ND grad plates so I was familiar with quality of LEE's products. Before I have ordered it I made some research picking up some feedbacks and Big Stopper completely fulfill my expectations with very few surprises. For sure it is product for "I know what I am doing" photographers regarding to long exposures and sensor noise relationship. It took six months before I got it but it was sure worth waiting for. Beside all of that It is great pleasure to say I had support from Adorama team through all of "backorder" period...

I received a DAMAGED Lee10Stop ND Filter

I have not been able to use the Lee 10stop ND Filter because when I opened the Paper Wrapped Package, I found that the filter was CRACKED!! It is obviously not a very good idea to send this filter out with NO RIGIDITY in the packaging (other than the filter itself). The filter comes with a soft canvas pouch which was paper shrink-wrapped and sent to me (pouch has no rigidity). Placing the pouch/filter in a BOX for sending out would highly decrease the potential damage problem. When I spo

I have not been able to use the Lee 10stop ND Filter because when I opened the Paper Wrapped Package, I found that the filter was CRACKED!! Placing the pouch/filter in a BOX for sending out would highly decrease the potential damage problem. When I spoke w/Adorama Customer Service, I was told that I need to wait 10 days until I hear any word since Adorama has to communicate w/UPS first. Apparently UPS is being blamed for this problem. This is absolutely ridiculous. I have already been CHARGED for the product even though I received a damaged product. I should have been sent a new product while Adorama takes care of their own problem.

Great Product!

This filter does a great job of blocking out the light. Used it at a river near my home and got some fantastic photos. Would definitely purchase this filter again.

Worth the wait

The Big Stopper always seems to be on back-order. I happened to see that it was in stock and jumped on it, but still had to wait a couple of weeks for the filter holder which. This is the filter you want for slowing down time and getting long exposure times.

It works as advertised, Perfect.

This is my first filter, and the results are just what I had hoped for. You could probably use a welders helmet and get the same results, but this filter is much more compact.

I purchased the product to photograph scenes with water in it. So far I am very happy with the results , build quality and the fact that it's easy to use.

Lee Big Stopper

Works on any lens with cheap adapters rather than buying multiple expensive ND filters for each lens size you have.

Magical effects

By

It took forever to come, but it finally arrived. This filter creates wonderful streaks with moving clouds and misty looking water. It's a bit blue like some reviewers have said on the color balance and you have to watch out for exposures that are too long, like several minutes, and getting noise in the image, but that's the camera and not the fault of the filter. I'm still experimenting on how to clean all that up post processing. Overall, a very cool filter.

Worth the wait

By

I ordered this in the middle of April, and finally in the middle of October it arrived, not Adorama's fault and they sent me periodic emails letting me know that it was still on back order and I could cancel. I'm just starting to use the filter and it works great! It does take some getting used to, and it takes a while to do so, a quick shot with this is not always an option. So far the filter does what it should and Adorama kept me up to date on the order.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Does this filter fits Canon T4i with 18-55mm lens? Do I need to buy the holder?
MIKE D  No square or rectangular filters directly attach to any lens. They're just sheets of glass or plastic. The Lee system requires a holder, which has 3 slots for filters, and an adapter ring to fit your lens. I believe your 18-55 has 58mm filter threads. Search Adorama for "LEAR58". So the adapter screws onto the end of your lens, the holder clips onto the ring, and the filters slide into the holder. If you have lenses with different filter sizes, you'll need a different adapter ring for each. Either that, or get a ring to fit your largest lens, then get a step up ring between the Lee ring and your smaller lenses.
Shopper  Will this work on the foundation kit holder?
HOWARD A  Yes. It will work
Shopper  Did anybody buy this item from Adorama? I have been trying for several weeks but always on backorder !!!
AYMAN A  I did and I got it. Like all other LEE products, it is highly unlikely that you will see them 'in stock'. Just order it and Adorama will ship it to you as soon as they get them. I got mine in a couple of weeks after purchase and they only charged me after they actually shipped the item.
