Recently purchased laptop without DVD, had bought this blu-ray 3 years ago. Not used much for watching movies while traveling. Now this laptop has a bluray/dvd/cd drive.

This is LG CP40NG10 eternal blu ray drive. I purchased this to play blu ray discs on my computer. I have it correctly installed, my computer has more than the minimum requirements but never passes the pass fail tests for the graphics card. I've tried updates (graphics card is up to date), uninstall and reinstall, new cables, even other computers and it doesn't work. I can play CD's and DVD's but then I already had a DVD player writer in my computer so that isn't much help. I purchased this product after trying to use an internal LG blu ray that wouldn't run either. I don't know if it's the software(yes that was updated too) or the actual hardware or an incorrect minimum requirements list but all of it came from LG with this player so for me it's a part of the purchase I made.

I needed a Blu-ray player to copy my DVD's & Blu-ray's to my media server. While doing research, I came across this external Blu-Ray player. The portability is useful to me (I can use it with my laptop or home PC, and it's super quiet.

I played DVD's couple of times when I bought the unit, it worked fine. Later (much later) found it from drawer again and tried to use for blue ray, it simply wont play blue ray. Useless waste of money.

Needed to install old programs onto my new slim laptop. Installation went without a problem. Played a Blu-ray movie with no problems. Have not tried to burn any disc yet. It is compact and easy to carry in computer bag. No problems so far.

A terrible, overpriced product. It will not play some discs I have played on numerous other devices. When it does play a movie, there often are so many annoying stutters and pauses that I have to shut it off. And it absolutely will not play Blu-ray discs, despite the claims. Considering that this is one of the main reasons I bought it, that’s a major drawback. I tried patching the software that came with it many times, but that didn’t work. The people at Cyberlink, which makes the software, assure me it’s not a software problem, that the drive is faulty. LG is responsible for providing the software, anyway, so either their version of the software is flawed, or the drive itself is. This is on a brand-new, fully updated laptop with all the current drivers. Unfortunately I lost the receipt and can’t return it. So I’m stuck with this useless product. Don’t make the same mistake.

From the get go, this drive stands out. It is a burner, a blu ray burner, and a great player regular and blu ray.

Installed on my unibody Macbook. Playback is smooth and drive is very quiet. It did require finding and installing separate 3rd party bluray hardware. This would have been a perfect purchase if I didn't have to buy additional playback software for the Mac OSX.

I was surprised when the software that came with it didn't integrate fully with Windows 7. I like to make a copy of my movies and save them in my network hard drive for viewing throughout the house. When I tried to use the player, it was not listed in the source for my software. I eventually got it to work, but it wasn't very intuitive.

You can't beat this device. It works perfectly right out of the box, easy to hook up, and operates like a charm. I was truly impressed with the quality and the performance. While it seems most devices advertise themselves as the best, this one actually is. LG has really impressed me and so much so that I want to look at LG for replacements of both my other devices and appliances. Quality, perfect set of features, and tastefully stylish. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

i got this a week ago and i can say that this is an excellent bluray multi drive.it has multiple features.i recommend this to anyone who wants to buy a external drive,just check the requirements for ur laptop or notebook.

The unit is a fast and responsive. It's compact size allows me to take it with me when I travel and is an excellent ajunct to the netbook I use when I take to the air
