Works just fine

Using it on the Pentax DA 35/2.4 and not seeing any vignetting at all (APS-C sized sensor).

Right for the Price

Compact enough not to prevent me from using the same soft case for my Sigma DP2M camera, yet very effective when the folding hood is extended. The threaded base and folding body are high quality -- no fear of wearing out from heavy use. Certainly great value.

Shoddy and Covered with Oily Fluid

These are packed in a plastic film wrap inside of a box. I bought two. When I removed them from the wrapper I found they were both drenched in an oily fluid. I washed them off. The oily fluid continues to reappear from the interface between the rubber hood and the plastic ring. I would not put these things within a mile of my lenses.

Great value

I use it on my camcorder to block side light. Works great and folds up for close up shots of things like bugs.....or small snakes

Exactly what I needed

This lens hood collapses easily and cuts glare to "almost nothing" on my Jupiter 9 85mm f2 lens.

a bit bulky, durability a question

This hood seems to work well with OM lenses mounted on a 4/3rds DSLR. The rubber portion is reasonably thick and seems tough enough, though it does add substantial bulk to the lens. The hood is 4" in diameter and adds 1/2" to the length on the lens when collapsed. The hood mounts via a plastic ring that screws into the filter threads on the lens. The plastic used doesn't strike me as particularly durable, so I'm concerned that repeatedly attaching and detaching the hood may wear down the threads. Time will tell. This shouldn't be a concern if you're going to leave it on one lens all the time. And for the price you can always get more than one.

Works well on a Pentax FA50/1.4

Given that it folds down nicely the hood is permanently parked on my lens. No vignetting, no complaints.

Just What I Needed

Until I purchased this rubber lens hood, I was using a metal hood which, over 40-some years of rugged use, had acquired a shape that was anything but round. It was bulky and had to be removed if I wanted to put the camera in a carrying case. This appears the ideal solution!

Rubber Lens Hood works great

This hood is very well made. Has a hard plastic core that screws into the filter thread of the lens, and then has a nice conical soft rubber cone extending out from the hard plastic. Can be used with any kind of filter or lens cap. Even better, the hood folds flat because of molded in soft rubber ridges. No vignetting that i can see on my Pentax 50mm F1.4.

Lens hoods guard against uncontrolled, stray light and unwanted reflections which result in reduced contrast and possible "ghost Images". In general, the use of a lens hood is recommended because better contrast improves the appearance of the photograph. This accessory also offers protection for the front lens element against rain and mechanical damage.

Rubber Lens Hood are made out of a high quality matte black rubber. It folds down and protects against contrast - reducing, uncontrolled, stray light.
