Price reflects quality. This lens hood is priced accordingly: neither over-priced nor under-priced. It has OK quality and works just fine. If a buyer's goal is to get a lens hood with high quality, meaning more durable, stronger construction, etc., this lens hood is inappropriate. But that does not mean this particular lens hood is bad. In sum, you just get what you paid for.

It's a completely functional lens hood. I think I would have preferred a collapsible rubber one, though. I'm afraid this one could get bent pretty easily. And the threads are slightly rough, like they painted or powder coated over them. It works well, just not easy to store.

Lens hoods guard against uncontrolled, stray light and unwanted reflections which result in reduced contrast and possible "ghost Images". In general, the use of a lens hood is recommended because better contrast improves the appearance of the photograph. This accessory also offers protection for the front lens element against rain and mechanical damage.
Metal Lens Hood are made of black anodized aluminum. It is suitable for Wide Angle Lenses.
