Questions & Answers

PATTY A : I have an older soligor 500mm lens - how do I know if it's a t-mount lens or not? I bought it used for a great deal - but before I really did my homework on how to get it to fit onto my Canon EOS T2i.JAMES S : Patty There are two possibilities for the threaded mount on your lens. One is a T mount or T2 and the other is a Pentax thread or M42 mount. You can buy adapters for Canon EOS camera for either of these thread mounts. I have used both types. Sometimes the infinity focus is off for a Pentax thread to EOS adapter. For a first timer it will be hard to tell one thread from the other. The T mount is a finer thread, more threads to the inch. Not having both types together gives you nothing to compare. I suggest you take the lens to a camera store or professional photographer and ask what type of thread mount is on the lens. Better find someone over 50 since these mounts aren't used much anymore and a younger person will likely not have any idea either. You could buy both adapters and see which one fits. If you do that, do not force the threads. The mounts are the same diameter and a mismatch will likely start to thread together and then jamb. A good fit is very smooth. If you do have T mount lens, there are three set screws on the adapter. You can loosen these and rotate the lens inside the adapter so the aperture and focus marks are on the top of the lens when mounted on the camera. Once set just tighten the screws. Good luck JimWES G : Hi There; If you look at a picture of the T-mount for the Canon EOS, you will see that on one end is the fitting to go into your T21. In the center there are some fine threads which is the universal thread mount for any lens that will take a T-mount. Now, looking at the rear of the Soligor 500mm lens, you should either see the same type of threads, which means it is ready to receive a T-mount. If you don't see the fine threads, it means one of two things: 1. There is a T-mount already install, which you just need to unscrew, and install your t-mount for the Canon EOS system. 2. The lens is made for a different type camera, and a t-mount will not help you. Hope this information helps!MIKE P : Generally if it's a T-mount lens, it will have threads instead of a bayonet mount. The T-mount screws onto the lens.
Shopper : will this fit a canon300mmlense?PHILLIP G : no.RICK B : This adaptor is for connecting a camera to a telescope, not a lens. With this adaptor a lens is not used, the telescope becomes the lens. RickWES G : Hi; I am a bit confused, but if you have a Canon EOS-DSLR camera and are planning to buy a Canon 300mm lens, it will fit your camera without any need for an adopter. You only need a T-mount for a lens with a universal thread. Hope that clears up the problem.KEITH J : A Canon lens doesn't need a T mount adaptor to go on a Canon lens. If you're looking for a teleconverter ... This isn't it.JEFFERY L : this is to mount NON EOS lenses with a t-mount to a canon eos body.JOHN G : This adapter is to fit lenses with the universal T-mount; The adapter has a bayonet mount on the side that fits to the camera (the same type of mechanical configuration that any lens made specifically for your camera has) and a standard thread on the lens side. T-mount lenses have a threaded barrel which screws into the adapter. There are also t-mounts made that insert into telescope focusers in order to mount a specific camera on a telescope It is not made to fit camera specific lenses to other cameras. Without knowing specifically what you are trying to achieve, I really can't answer your question completely, but I'm guessing from what you are asking, that this is not something that will achieve whatever you're trying to do.PETER LA D : A T-Mount is a system incorporated into many amateur telescopes. the T-Mount adapter allows one to attach a CAMERA to the telescope. It does not fit any lens.RANDY T : The adapter goes between a Canon EOS EF mount camera and any T-Mount lens. If the lens you are trying to fit is a Canon 300 mm lense, then no. The adapter changes the Canon Camera from an EF mount to a T-Mount, if you will and not the other way around. Hope this helps.
Shopper : I have some old Canon manual lens that I used with my Canon t70, I now have a Canon Digital EOS, is there an adapter out there I can purchase so I can use my old lenses with my digital camera? If so, what is the name of it and where can I buy it?JOHN I : When I went from my Canon AE-1 to a Canon XS I also wanted to use my old lenses. I found an adapter made by FotoDiox that lets me use all my older lenses on the new digital camera body. I forget where I got it but it is a "Fotodiox FD-EOS" adapter. You should be able to do a web search to find one. Good luck.LEONARD C : There is no such adapter for Canon. JEFFERY L : this t-mount is not for the canon FD mount. you would search for an FD to EOS adapter. they are made. The T-mount was a universal manual lens connection. I bought this to use a 600mm mirror lense on my 5d mark II. worked great for that.

Adorama helped to find what I needed

I had trouble finding this adapter to put my 500 MM lens on my canon T4i. I searched and finally went to Adorama. I clicked on chat and a very nice lady linked me to this adapter. Ordered it and it worked great. Thanks to Adorama's helpful personel and the adapter, I am now enjoying my 500 mirror lens.

Good basic T-Ring

If you are looking for a good, basic, low-cost t-ring, this is it. However, for serious astrophotography, be aware that better, but more expensive, alternatives exist. These alternatives offer more easily adjustable, yet rigid, connections to your scope.

It does what it says.

This is a standard piece f kit that is very simple to use and functional. I used it to connect my digital slr (Canon) to my telescope. It's totally intuitive and impossible to break unless you mistreat it, or are involved in a terrible head-on collision, perish the thought..

It broke

It broke within two hours of use with 500 mm lens. I'm guessing the lens, although light, was too heavy for it. [...]the T-mount was disappointing. I like the test shots I did with the lens, given that it is a CDT lens system, and was willing to give everything a second chance. [...] I have a T-mount for an astro telescope that is heavier duty, and such should be similar for the one supplied with the 500 mm lens. Oh well.

this mount works well

This mount works well once you are able to attach it to the body and that can be difficult until you get the hang of it then its okay.

A Celestron T-Mount made in Taiwan

I received this product in a Celestron box with part number #93419. It is exactly shown as Celestron has it on its site (Made in Taiwan). The mount works fine and locks onto my 20D. It is cleanly made and not rough at the edges. There's just an inkling of a slight wobble compared to Canon-made lenses. The typical red thread indicator is a silver dot and about 2mm off. I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed with this as Adorama's product image shows a Japan-made lens adapter. They should change the image and product name to better reflect the product being sold. It works, but I feel a bit jilted thinking that the one made in Japan could possibly have tighter tolerances.

A BAD product. I am disiponited to no end. The picture on [...] showed it was made in Japan. It was not. It was made in Tawani. Could not get it to work on my camera until I made the hole for the cameras locking pin larger. You can read my comment I wrote on [...] page. I guess buyer be ware!!!

I bought to attach to a Meade ETX telescope. It fits my eos camera and the scope perfectly, and the finish was very good. no sharp burrs as I have seen on some other lesser quality adapters.

Bought to attach DSLR to Meade ETX. Nice fit, finish. Good results.

Fits perfectly!

By mks

I have purchased a lot of these for use in an adapter that couples the camera to other optical systems. These T mounts seem to have excellent finish and a perfect fit on the camera's lens mount.

This T-Mount allows you to attach your Canon EOS DSLR /SLR camera to lenses, telescopes, microscopes, enlargers, and bellows attachments that have T-Mount thread
