This driver is very noisy while playing/burning CD or DVD. With Blu Ray the sound is correct. It's provide with Power DVD 9. This program is not compatible with Windows 8.1. If you buy this product, your will have to buy PowerDVD 14 Ultra. Also, the firmware of this driver need update to work correctly on Windows 8.1. Best thing to do, buy a newer model of LG driver!

I got this baby as a Christmas present to myself. I wanted to watch blu rays on my computer but did not have a player. This player is a great value. It was easy to install and set up with the provided software. Plays most of my blu rays, but would not play The Hobbit. Not sure why. Also plays regular dvds well. I used it to burn a few cds and it did a great job. All in all, a great product for a modest price.

I bought this for the lightsribe feature and the Blue Ray player was a bonus. I have had zero issues with the install or functions of this drive. This is the 5th LG drive I have purchased and have never had an issue with any of them.

Installed on home built computer. Comes with Cyberlink10 Suite. Set computer for automatic updates and LG has come through. Running Windows 8. Plays Blu-ray with 3d option. So far no complaints.

This blu-ray/dvd combo drive is a quality product that is easy to install and easy to use. I have nothing really that can be considered bad, to say about it on my end. I made this Purchase for use in my new PC build for a few reasons. 1 It's LG, and for me that spells quaLity Goods. 2)It was reasonably priced for the uses I have for it. 3)It came with the software & sata cable. Which is a big bonus for me, because I usually just buy OEM & have to purchase this stuff separately. While it does not come with the best playback software, it is at least useable even in Win8. Therefore, I can not honestly complain about the playback software either, even though I have seen better. Again, I can't complain though. However it would not hurt if LG tossed in a better, and name brand software. Then, simply put a few more dollars on the price tag. I would have paid the difference for a higher quality playback software in a bundled package, and I feel quite confident many others would bite the bullet for that type of purchase as well. I did have to return a purchase to Best Buy of a not so good brand after 1 day of use. So, I was excited to find an LG available at a locally owned PC shop with a reasonable price tag on it. My next purchase will not only be for power, but also style, which is the only thing this one lacks. A good looking face plate would have been nice since it's in a new case covered in blue LED's & on the fans (for vanity's sake). Overall product rating I give 4 stars. Would be 5 if it had a stylish faceplate. If you are looking for a reliable 12x BD-R this is it. No software issues AT ALL running it in windows 8 for anyone wondering.
