We have had this 55" TV for about 9 years. Picture quality has remained very good. The only problem has been with the LED backlit screen. The screen has 55 diffusers in a 5 x 11 array. Diffusers started falling off when the set got to about 6 years of age - each resulting in a bright circle about 1.5" in diameter, more noticeable the lighter the background. 26 of the 55 had fallen off before I took the TV apart and reattached them in August 2024. This 'fix' was successful, and the screen is now back to like-new condition. In this case, the TV has never been moved or subjected to mechanical shock since installation in 2015. The issue with diffusers falling off is apparently the result of eventual failure of the bonding agent used to secure them to the LED array.

I bought this TV a little over 7 years ago. I wasn't even pregnant with my 6yo yet. And I still have it and it still works! Up until about a year ago I had no issues with it but then some little caps inside started falling off but I can still see the pictures fine. I loved it so much that when I moved into my current apartment I bought a 65 inch LG for my living room because I trust the brand.

I got this model of TV brand new over 5 years ago, and it's still in perfect working order. Haven't ever had an issue with it. When it's time for a new TV, I'll definitely be getting another LG!

I've had this for about 3-4 years and have had no issues with it. I'm about to replace it as my main TV with another unit. I will certainly consider an LG for a replacement.

So disappointed in this TV we have had it for ONLY 3 YEARS and the LED strips went out so we have a flickering picture audio is fine. This is the worst electronic purchase I have ever made. I refuse to spend any more money on LG or to get this junk fixed.

I've had this TV for almost 5 years and just in the last few months plate sized dark blotches have started to appear. You only notice them on a static backgrounds like the sky or any solid color on a portion of the screen. But, they are spreading and getting worse (more obvious). I have another brand plasma TV over 10 years old that still has a perfect picture so I'm very disappointed that this LG LED TV that seems to be going out and is cost prohibitive to repair.

I’ve had his unit for three years and now the screen is now flickering. I can’t see myself purchasing a brand new TV. If I do, I’m purchasing a competitor’s brand.

We have owned since 2014 and never had any problems. The picture is still perfect, and has HDMI connections for all my toys. Like all televisions on the market these days the audio output is weak.

Great TV, very sharp picture and color enhancement, but after three years, it just died out. Thankfully, I did have the extended warranty.

We bought this to replace another set. Super easy to hook up. Wonderful picture and great sound. Haven't used all the features yet but am sure they will all be great as well.

Picture is flickering due to LED failures. Only a 1 year warranty so it appears this product was expected to fail. Never had a problem like this with a TV...

Unfortunately I didnt google and find out about the quality issues that are similar to mine. Suddenly the picture just started flashing no matter what screen I am on, cable, dvd, nothing, it doesnt matter, the screen flashes every 1/2 second. LG's solution is to have the service shop that is 40 miles away look at it.

Had this tv & was happy with it for a little over 2 years. Then one morning, the timer on feature turned it on, but the video was flashing on and off. Repeatedly. Nothing could fix it. In my opinion, it should've lasted longer than that.

Screen image died after 30 months, cost to repair exceeds replacement.

This wasn't my first choice on TV's but I'm glad I bought it. Outstanding picture quality. I'm going to get a 4K next until they come out with 8K programming. I'm staying with LG.

I bought this tv just about two years ago (I'm not sure why I've waited until just now to write a review here, although I did review it on Amazon and it's been great since day one. I chiefly use this tv for gaming on my current gen consoles, so that's where my opinion is coming from. I love the design of the unit, with the slim silver bezel and the two "feet" rather than a central stand. It looks great in my living room. I know most people are used to a black bezel, and many may be apprehensive about the silver in pictures or initially in person, but I think it looks sleek and modern, and it's never distracted me from the content on display. The picture is great: 1080p content is smooth and clear as you'd expect. Motion is clear with little blur when watching high frame-rate action (too bad current-gen doesn't support 60fps gaming, sigh). For an LED panel the contrast is great, with some of the deepest and most even blacks I've seen in any comparative display. Of course, the blacks aren't perfect or inky because this isn't a plasma or an OLED (of which LG makes some amazing models, but they're a bit out of my price range as of now). Te real high point of the picture itself, though, is the color. It has great color reproduction, it's LED bright without oversaturating colors or washing light scenes out, and the reds and blues especially are breathtakingly deep and saturated. LOVE the colors this display puts out. The sound is alright, it's clear and gets pretty loud. Most of the time I use external speakers, so I haven't spent too much time listening to the internal speakers, but TV speakers in general aren't the best, especially for watching movies and gaming The only gripes I have with this TV really have to do with I/O. There are only two HDMI inputs, which is pretty lacking. As well, the speakers I use have an aux (headphone) connector, and there is no aux output for sound in this TV, only an optical out, so I had to buy an adapter to be able to use them. It's not too big of a deal, but I'd ideally like to be able to plug my speakers right into the TV without extra hassle. Overall, I love this TV. It's been going strong and treating me well for the past two years, and I'm sure it'll last much longer. LG makes awesome displays, and I plan on buying my next from them, and the one after, and the one after that!

Bought this for my little old mother, 71 years old. She tells me that there's something going on with the screen so I naturally assume that maybe there's just some option that she accidentally changed. But she has me watch for a few moments then the screen flashes to black for a second then works again. It does this every few minutes.

My son bought this model for me as a Xmas gift in Dec. of 2014. The picture and sound quality is very nice, even Without the Surround Sound. My only regret is that it only has two HDMI ports.

Lovely television but I was told at the retailer that it had TruMotion - the video setting that creates "Soap Opera Effect" that my wife wanted. This model, even though it has 120/240 1080p resolution, does not have the TruMotion feature. I would have given it 5 stars if it had TruMotion.

This is my first HD flat screen TV that I purchase. It has brilliant quality color and detail and at 55'' is sufficient in size for my 12' x 14' living room. 60'' would have been better, but at 55'' the price gave me the best bang for my buck. The only issue I have encountered is the hdmi from my cable box slips out on occasion. The remote is a little user unfriendly and the menus take a bit to get used to. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase. I purchased this TV on Feb 1, 2015.

This TV is exactly what I needed. The very slim, matte finished, silver bezel blends in very nicely to the light paint in my basement so I never notice bezel. I doesn't have any crazy features, but you cannot beat the price. Its super light and thin so it looks great up on the wall. I have and will continue recommending this TV to others

Good picture and sound. Easy to setup and use the features. I found this for a great price at a local appliance mart compared to the big box stores! The only downside is it only has 2 HDMI inputs when I need 3 (which my old LG had). This is a great improvement over my LG 32' flat screen TV!!

This is a great choice for superb picture quality, 55", and a great price. I am recommending this to friends and family.
Enjoy the exceptional picture quality of LG's LB5900 TV. With Full HD 1080p resolution you get double the pixel resolution of standard HD, making your HD channels and Blu-ray movies look amazing. And, because this TV has LED backlighting, colors are bright and clear with detailed color that enhances your viewing experience. Have pictures, movies or audio stored on a USB? With USB 2.0, you can just plug and play your JPEG, MP3 and DivX HD content. And if you have fast moving content like action and sports, it will look virtual blur free with LG's Motion Clarity Index 240* that lets you get into the action.
