I bought this hoping it would work as a waist pack for my smaller cameras. When I first received this I was a bit disappointed. It was a little on the small side and kind of stuck out from my waist and was stiff. I thought oh another bag to throw in the discard heap. But then a few days later I relooked at it. It was stiff because of the padding inside and the cardboard divider so I pulled it all out. Even without all of the padding inside it still has some protection. Now the bag conforms more to my body, is very comfortable and fits my small mirrorless cameras comfortably. I can fit my Fuji X-T2 or Panasonic Gx8 with a small zoom or prime lens attached. Because it is deep you could also fit in a small pair of binoculars or another small lens plus keys, extra batteries, memories cards. There is a pocket on the outside front which most cell phones would fit into. And a place on one side for a water bottle which I did not use. I did not overstuff it and it was easy to access my gear and the bag didn't pull down. I plan to use it when I hike or bike. It can be worn in the front, on the side or in the back. The part of the bag that is against your body is padded for more comfort and no, I didn't pull that out. I used it yesterday for several hours and didn't hardly know it was there.

Too bad Lowepro killed their Off Trail series, which was indeed the field base for climbers and adventurers alike. This one sports more padding, is heavier, has no detachable lens cases, and targets leisure activities. I can still recommend it due to its unique design no other manufacturer has, but it still doesn't fit the needs of very active photographers.

Although Lowepro engineered this to carry binoculars, a book, notepad, and even a tablet, it works great for cameras. My Canon with battery grip, and 18-200mm is a snug fit, but it allows the camera to be quickly stowed in a sudden rain. Riding on your hips, it's easier to tote than a heavy bag on the shoulder, plus you can carry two bottles of water, snacks, and keep your mobile phone secure in the field. I strongly recommend this for anyone who wants light-weight portability, easy carry, and Lowepro quality.
