Lowepro Photo Runner 100 Beltpack/Shoulderpack, Mica

I purchased this bag along with the Lowepro Inverse 100AW in an effort to determine which works best for my 4-lens plus flash rangefinder kit. Cutting to the chase, for me, the Photo Runner was superior in every way. It's less bulky than the Inverse 100AW, easier to access gear, more compact yet with internal dimensions that seem to offer more in terms of configurable space. It appears that the mica color is being discontinued which is a shame as it's quite attractive and it looks more like a lunch cooler than a camera bag. Stealth is a huge plus for me. The bag won't be a good choice for a war zone, but it's decently made (like all Lowepro products) and it should last years when used for light to medium duty situations.

I have a Nikon D5100 in the center compartment with a 18-105 lens with out the hood and it fits right to the top. Attach any thing larger then that and the lid won't zip On one side compartment, I can fit a 55-300 lens with the hood. Problem is, if I put it on my camera, I can't store it and the camera back into the bag. I have to put my smaller lens back on. The other side storage, I carry my SB 400 and tack my camera strap on top of it to zip the lid on. There is room for media cards in the lid. I carry an extra battery and cords in the front. The lid opens only with a zipper and folds open to the left. I do like the option of either waist or shoulder straps, but no place to store the shoulder strap in the bag if you want to change over. The waist straps tack into the back of the bag. There are straps on the bottom to carry a tripod.

I purchased this to replace a similar sized DOMKE bag. I am really happy of the Lowepro photo runner 100. It is ergonomic and I can put a a basic kid with Nikon DSLR with standard zoom, additional lens and SB800 or SB600 flash. I like the pockets for the memory cards. I could add some more stuff like a charger with a spare battery and a block notes. Stuff does not fall out of the bag as it happened too easily with the DOMKE (I lost a 50 mm 1.8 from it). there are 2 zippers to close the main compartment so you can close it where you want to. it could be improved by making the side pockets a little deeper and by adding a pocket for a note pad on top. And i would like to have a way to close the top lid with Velcro as well, when I do not need to zip it all the way , it would provide faster access. But this is the best small bag I had overall, I can also carry my equipment while riding a bicycle. Access to the camera is way faster than a backpack. The belt is a lot more secure than the DOMKE. I would give 4 1/2 stars, as it could be slightly improved, but i am really satisfied. I use it whenever i do not need to carry my laptop. Actually it can fit in my backpack where I usually carry my laptop.

This is the revised Lowe Photo Runner. I still have the original version, and bought my daughter one as well. However, the earlier version is not quite large enough for my Nikon D300, which this newer version holds, along with the 18-200/3.5-5.6 AF-S VRII zoom, and either the 35/1.8 or OR a Tamron 10-24/3.5-4.5 (but not both), and I can even get a Nikon SB-800 into the bag. An extra EN-EL3e battery slips in as well, and there's space for an extra memory card, and even, a Gary Fong folding diffuser. The prospective use will likely include that body and flash, but much of the time the 18-70/3.5-4.5 AF-S ED lens, and a 70-300/4.5-5.6 AF-S VRII Nikkor, to give a two lens combination, 18 to 300 mm, continuous coverage, which should be as much as needed for most outdoor work, perhaps at time with the 10-24 as an alternative to the 18-70, depending on anticipated subject. I like that this sort of bag can be carried on the WAIST, which makes walking long distances very practical and comfortable. I have, by the way, the tan version of this bag, to minimize heat gain when outdoors.
