Nice bag, but a little too big

I love the 100AW and got this 200AW because the single strap was hurting my shoulders. 200aw has the same features as 100aw but a little too big for me.

lots of room for storage

I purchased the back to use while I road my bike, thinking that it would be small and hold just the basics I needed for the on the go photo ops. However the bag is much bigger than I thought but not in the areas that need to be bigger. My camera a Canon 60D with battery pack does not fit in this bag. However the top of the bag has ample storage room which does come in handy. Overall I am satisfied with the bag, I would recommend this bag for the photographer on the go.

Very useful

I've been using this for a few weeks. I don't have a ton of gear, a 60D and 85 f1.8 and a kit lens with some batteries and cables. I have a lot of extra space if I was carrying a flash or larger lens. It's great for backpacking, which we do a lot of. It's light and I like that it doesn't look like a camera bag. It also has plenty of space to grab and extra jacket and a few other things for on the trail. Swinging it around to get the camera out is easy and convenient and it holds everything pretty securely inside. I don't feel it shifting or bouncing at all in there

*update to outstanding 4/13*

After two weeks hiking around Greece- from Athens to Sparta to Villages clinging to mountainsides, I found this pack to be perfect for what I required; lightweight, durable, and compact. My gear consisted of a 7D with a 24-70mm 2.8L attached, and a Black Rapid camera strap, and a Tamaron 10-24mm with hood, a battery charger with an extra battery, which all fit nicely in the camera compartment, but with very little room to spare. I also carried a 100oz Camel Bak bladder that fit perfect in the hydration compartment, a small Gorilla tri pod with a Joby ball head and a Mac book 13 inch with a protective case. The lid of the pack carried my passport and money and sunglasses while the inside main compartment had plenty of room for a hat, light jacket, sun block, snacks, and maps and travel journal and toiletries. It is perhaps one of the best packs I have owned for carrying camera equipment! It stores nicely in the overhead, and fits snugly against my back with very little movement and jostling on rugged terrain. If you are a minimalist and can stand leaving lenses behind and opting for just bare camera essentials, this is the pack for you.

Outstanding

I purchased this pack to take with me to Athens, Greece, and was greatly impressed with the storage capacity for such a small looking bag. I have already used it on a camping trip that required some hiking and was impressed how snug it fit and how little movement on the back there was. Some quick observations- Accessing the compartment by swinging the bag to the side seemed a little awkward at first, yet after a couple times it became easier. The shoulder straps could have been a little better designed in regards to ergonomics to better eliminate shoulder fatigue for longer hikes- but like new hiking boots I suspect in time I will grow accustomed to the strap design. My only complaint is the waist strap. It feels a bit in the thin side and a tad small- once again, a very minor issue in the long run if you are looking for a fast pack that is light. Bottom line, I was very impressed with the bag.

Great vacation photo daypack

This pack was better than expected and holds more gear than described in some other reviews I read. I bought it for a trip to Costa Rica to carry a D5100, 50mm 1.8 and 18-200 lenses. They fit easily, with either lens attached, and it has room to carry a larger camera body. It also carried a small tripod, point and shoot camera, compact binoculars, rain jacket, camera accessories, wallet, phone, sunglasses, passports, iPad, etc. This is a great little pack for the traveler and photo enthusiast.

Great backpack for hikes with camera

The best feature is the balance between the camera storage and storage for other items. All other camera backpacks have too much space dedicated to camera and nothing left for water, clothing and food. This is a perfect day hike backpack with a convenient storage for DSLR with perhaps one extra lens. Planning to take it on vacation to Europe. The only negative - too many straps, sometimes not sure which one to use.

This is the right one!

I was looking for a backpack that allowed me to do hiking o mountain bike carrying my Canon DSLR and 3 lenses. This was definitely the perfect choice. It has enough room for a camel bak, snacks, clothing, bottled water and quick access to small pockets. Adjustable and lumbar support. Plus it has a rain cover hidden at the bottom. A bit expensive but it worth it. It's a "MUST" if you like to combine outdoor sports/activities and photography.

Just what i needed

I was looking for a pack that would allow me to spend more time out hiking that would carry my photo equipment plus my daily needs. My avg hikes are 4-8miles a day. This pack does it. My normal list reads like this. Nikon D5100 w 55-300 kit lens on it hood reversed 18-55 kit lens memory cards / xrta batteries cleaning kit tripod 2.ol water bladder food/ first aid kit / light jacket/sunblock/bugspray and anything else i can think of depending on the season. For those of you looking to spend a little more time other than 1-2hrs outdoors this is a nice option

Great all purpose travel pack

I have used this pack twice: first for a trip out to Missouri for my grandmother's 90th birthday party (by plane) and second for a day hike along the AT in Virginia (by bus from DC and then foot once on location). Plane Trip: The camera portion of the pack had enough room to carry my camera (Nikon D5100) kit lense with enough room for either two smaller lenses, one moderate length telephoto, or good sized flash (none of which I carried on this trip). The remainder of the pack held enough clothing and supplies to last my wife and I two days (four sets of clothing, toiletries, and her makeup) with enough room for my iPad and a book. Even with all of the room, my favorite feature was that no one other than a fellow photographer (who recognized the LowPro name) knew I was carrying a camera. Day Hike: For the second trip I carried the same camera gear (I travel tech light) but switched the clothing for a rain jacket, hiking hat, a days worth of food (cookies, trail mix, and jerky), a first aid kit, Leatherman, 100 yrds of cord, and 3L CamelPak bladder. The pack felt as comfortable as my other day packs (REI and CamelPak), and allowed me easy access to the camera while hiking. We encountered a heavy downpour for the last 20 minutes of the hike, so I can vouch for the efficacy of the including rain pouch for keeping your pack contents dry. Lastly, I could probably make this pack also work for an overnight camping trip if I was more judicious with the food options. There are straps on the bottom of the pack that would easily accomodate my hammock, and there was plenty of extra room in the pack for cooking gear if I had taken the time to organize. I tend towards macros and landscapes, so the 20-30 seconds it took grab my camera was not impossing. But if you are a wildlife photographer you may want to use the pack as transport and keep the camera around your neck so you don't miss your moment. Overall, I can't recommend this pack enough. Even if you travel with more gear than me there was plenty of room in the camera compartment for additional lenses and/or flashes. You can't pack the studio, but you can definitely pack everything that you will need for a weekend trip or an overnighter in the woods.

Great Pack for mountain biking

Works great to carry a camera out in the woods. The pack is secure and the cinch cord works great to keep things from rattling around.

Excellent active photo bag

Extremely comfortable bag, I completely forget it's there when biking. Allows me to bring my camera with me while doing more "active" activities while giving easy-access, a hydration pack, and plenty of storage for whatever else I need.

Lowepro Photo Sport Sling 200AW Backpack

Got this to travel light with my gear. Have not used it yet but I think it will work great for my beds. Very light yet has good protection for my Nikon D300. My only complaint so far is that the padded storage area is a little small. Wil not hold my sigma 120-400 in padded storage. However, the top large enough to carry it and a lot of other gear as well. I'm looking forward to using it on my bike and walking around the city.

Getting closer to a great camera bag

Finally a camera bag that is good for hiking: this is the first bag I have found with a pocket that holds a water bladder. And the suspension is very comfortable and stable. I had no problems yesterday on a 7 mile hike that included some pretty rugged terrain, and the bag stayed put. The hip belt did a great job of transferring the weight off my shoulders. And the belt has two great pockets: I use one for polarizing filter, close-up lens, and lens cap, the other for trail mix. The part of the bag that holds the camera has crash proof padding. I am sure the camera would easily survive a high speed crash off a bicycle in it (but I hope never to try). And that is the problem: because of thick paddling, it barely holds my D300s with 18-105mm lens. Any other lens must go in the upper non padded compartment. Other pockets are awkward due to the padded one. This would be a great bag (5 stars) if the camera paddling was much thinner, and it had some small pockets for cards, notepad, spare batteries, etc. Now it is great for 1 lens and a day's hiking, but it really seems to be much larger on the outside and lacking in usable space inside.

Perfect Bag/Case

I have bought several camera bags before, I have even attempted to use different types of back packs in attempts to find a perfect camera/day pack. The Lowepro has been the perfect bag. It fits my camera (Cannon 60D) perfectly along with the water bladder, wallet, notebook, macbook pro (13in), jacket and food. It also holds my trekking poles and tripod. It is the perfect bag for traveling and for school.
