Works great for me

I've been using this mostly for travel. It holds almost all of my gear, and has an effective waist strap to reduce the load on my shoulder. In fact, when I'm wearing the waist strap correctly, the shoulder strap doesn't put any pressure on my shoulder. On the airplane this bag is my 'personal item' and barely fits under the seat in front of me. I fill up the bottom part with all my camera equipment, and the top part usually has a couple small camera things, and then my headphones, and snacks for the ride. I've also used it for hiking, and I found it worked better than a normal backpack, mostly because of the waist strap. I tend to just keep my camera around my neck. So, I don't use the sling wrap to the front for that purpose. But, I do use it when I want to sit down on a bench. You can't easily get to the lenses while it's slung forward. But, you can get to the batteries/memory cards easily enough. The best reason for me to get this one over the others is the internal height of the bag. It is just big enough to take my 70-200F4-IS lens vertical in one of the slots. In my main portion of the bag I usually carry: 2 camera bodies (7D, 40D), 70-200, 100mm, 17-55mm, 30mm, 8mm, 1.4x, Rode StereoMic, and a 160GB hard drive media player for backup. I have to stack things a little bit, but they're all protected. I've been happy with my purchase and have no need for anything else, until I get a super telephoto and need more space. :)

third time is the charm

The reason for the heading is I first bought 102aw,and grew into 202aw,and now 302aw.I find comfort, convenience, quick and safe access to camera and accessories.I will definitely make use of all of them depending on the demand of what I am shooting

I need to update

By

After using it awhile, I have grown very fond of this bag, althought it is still too small for transporting all my equiptment. For long city walks or hiking in the woods (for several hours), it is perfect, as long as you can get along with one camera body and several lenses. I have recently purchased another Lowepro bag (Flipside 500AW) which I feel will serve my everyday (studio) needs better, but I will always keep this one for those special projects. No bag is perfect for everyone and for some (like me) no bag will serve every purpose. Between these two bags I have 99% of all my needs covered.

No disappointments with the 302 AW!

By

from El Paso, TX  -  Photo Enthusiast

Ever since I picked up a Nikon DSLR, I've wanted a backpack for my camera, lenses, cables and more. When I watched the video on the Slingshot 302 AW and saw the Adorama price, I ordered without hesitation. It offers everything the video promotes regarding space and comfort. It really is easy to slide around and open up to grab your camera! Love the single strap set up and it very balanced. I have room for all my current gear, plus my palm sized video camera. I currently own three lenses and have space for one more, possibly two. There's room to stash a fold up rain parka if I wanted to, snacks and a small drink bottle. My only frustration is that the locks on my tripod's legs are huge and won't easily slip through the loops on the bag, but I can still belt the top to the bag and use a Velcro strap to secure the lower portion of the tripod to one of the loops. Chances are I'll buy a different tripod someday. I think the only disappointment someone might have is that it doesn't have a sleeve for a laptop, but that wasn't a need on my part - all I wanted was my camera gear. The 302 AW is comfortable, made very well and I expect years of service from it.

great bag

By

from Harrisburg, PA  -  Photo Enthusiast

I love this bag. I have a large bag I keep all my gear in and use a smaller bag when im out hiking or walking around. I was looking at replacement for my smaller bag because it didnt have enough room. This is a bit bigger then I expected but thats a good thing in my eyes. Its easy to use and has plenty of pockets to store extra memory cards and batteries.

Too small for me

By

from Evansville, Indiana  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I just received my new bag and have not had a chance to really use it yet, but I can already tell it is too small for my style of shooting. It is well constructed and for the photographer who uses only one camera body and has time to set it down to access other lenses it would be great. It will carry a lot of lenses and other stuff if you are only using one body, but I have two and want to use both. I will keep this for short sessions where I only need my primary camera body. I would still recommend this bag for the serious enthusiast, as it is very well constructed and for some, ideal for their style of shooting. But if you have and intend to use more than one camera body it simply will not do. It is too bad that bags in this price range must now be ordered online, I miss having a local camera store to browse and see equipment up close. One other problem is that it simply is not what I am used to. I do plan to purchase another bag in the near future to replace this one that is closer to what I have used in the past. One reason I purchase this style is that it looked more comfortable to carry and probably is. The traditional bags that I am used to are easy to use and have great access, but get very uncomfortable after a short time of carrying. If you are planning a long hike, needing a lot of gear for one body this bag is ideal. I hope that this review is helpful if you are planning to purchase one. No one bag will fit everyone's needs so read the reviews before deciding. I gave it four stars because of the excellent construction but would have given it only three and half if that were an option.

a really nice bag

By

from Deltona, fla  -  Photo Enthusiast

This bag is quite large. I have a Nikon D5100 and a 55-300, 18-55 kit lenses . All my other accesories including a Black rapid strap and they all fit in the bottom section of this bag. In the top i also carry my personal effects including a set of 9x32 binoculars with no problems. In hindsight i shoud have got the 202aw to exactly fit my needs but this bag leaves me room to grow. Seems to be topnotch quality and has the Lowepro lifetime warranty .

A must have for tours..

By

from Las Vegas  -  Casual Photographer

Perfect for my Sony A77 with a 70-300 mm lens, wide angle lens, regular 16-50 mm lens, Sony flash, cleaning kit, and lens hoods. The side opening makes it easy to remove and return camera after use. The harness buckles need improvement, slips sometimes while swinging bag from rear to front.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
CAROL L  I thought it would be easier to access the inside than carrying a back pack. There is a learning curve to getting used to this one and it is larger than I thought it would be.
Luke I  will the 302 model accommodate a body with a battery pack?
KENNETH D  Yes, it will. Just have to move the dividers around.
Shopper  Can a Canon T3i attached w/ 70-200mm USM II 2.8 fit? And a Canon 17-55mm USM 2.8 and a Canon 600EX speedlite? I have a 15 yr old standard tripod--Can the bag hold on to the tripod?
DAVID R  There is a small insert that you can pull out on the side to hold a tripod. It is a very nice, solid bag.
