I love it, I have done some great portraits with it but the one thing I do hate is how much of a pain it is to disassemble and reassemble for traveling with. If it was a bit easier I'd give this all 5 stars.

not a pro. shooting small sculpture on seamless with florescent diffused lighting. hand held just the white screen in front of a 200w compact florescent with the camera on 10 sec timer. does what i need.

Great item for the price. However it is extremely difficult to assemble and disassemble.

If you have the Budget light kit this is a good addition more directional and softer than the umbrellas that come with the kit.

I just got it and used it for an event, it was fine and portable but it's just really hard to take apart as I'm used to the metal ring brackets. It was on the economic side so I hope it will last me a while since it's a plastic ring. Mounting it onto the monolight was kind of questionable as it was just plastic on plastic. Overall I think it's good for a novice just starting out or if you want to use a lightweight solution to your portable kit.

I got this because it was made for the monolight kit I had. It casts a good light. I read about assembly problems but I had none of that. Good addition for Budget kit. I like the internal defuser to reduce hot spots but it also reduces the light on an already lower power light. (not a problem for still life or product shots but might be a problem for some portrait use.

While struggling with the assembly of the softbox, my wife noticed the Velcro fasteners along the seams were closed. After releasing the velcro, pole insertion was much easier.

This is a great tool for my Budget Flashlight Monolights. Use the floor as leverage to get the metal rods in. They are quite easy to put together even without instructions. I know a lot of people think it is hard because instructions were not included. I would really consider using the floor. It worked great for me as it was not any different than putting a tent together.

I have used these softboxes for portrait work. I believe they would work well in certain product shots as well. They do attach nicely to my JTL J-160's. There is an inner diffuser that is easily removed if you need more power out of your lights. For the amount paid, they are a great buy.
