This is great for hanging a speed light off either a lightstand or any soft of indoor fixture. Of course, it works great outdoors as well if you can find a good spot to attach it. It's very sturdy and the grip is solid.

Incredibly useful and versatile. They allow you to put a light or microphone (with adapter) virtually anywhere.

First of all, this is an excellent clamp. It's small and convenient for placing lights or cameras. Get creative and try clamping to all kinds of things. I've gotten some really cool perspectives by clamping my video camera to things. The spring is perfectly weighted, making the clamp very reliable without requiring a strong hand. This is a clamp you can trust to hold up expensive gear (just don't get carried away...). The only problem I have with this product is the rubber grips. They constantly slip off when you open the clamp (don't worry - when the clamp is closed, they are locked in). Last week I was shooting from the top of a ladder. When I opened the clamp, the rubber grips fell all the way to the ground. It's just kind of annoying.

If you do weddings, outdoor photo shoots, if you're basically on the go with your camera and you don't have an assistant 24/7, these clamps are a necessity. You can attach them to almost anything and shoot light in whatever direction you may need it.

This is a powerfully gripping clamp with a stud attached so you can mount a camera or remote flash. Clamp it anywhere handy, and presto, you have a tripod substitute you can fit into a mesh sleeve or side pocket of your gadget bag. Quick set up and takedown. A handyman friend of mine saw it and went out and purchased the necessary parts and made several for his own use.But if you don't have a tool shop as well equipped as his, and you location shoot and want to minimize the weight of several tripods to be schlepped through forest glade and dell, throw a couple of these in the gear bag and clamp them to trees, posts, tables, anywhere handy as a tripod or lightstand.

The guy in the first review complaining about smell? What a wimp... Complaining about something so trivial. You would never survive my job as a commercial shooter in the field. Its best if you cant handle a "Smell" of rubber that you stay at a desk and leave the job real shooting to those that can deal with a small rubber smell. Back to the review at hand. This little guy is good for the price and works great in a pinch for those odd places I need a bump or kiss of light on something in small tight places. Such as a cubby hole or shelf or back light to a object or person. Bigger clamps like the bogan sometimes dont work because of there size and wont squeeze into those tight spots. Plus the fact that they are small makes it great to toss them in a grip bag or gear bag. They even work great for "Hooks" for models or people to hang things on. I have used them to hold "Gobos" or small "Dots" or "Fingers" on commercial table top set up shots. Grab a couple and use them for back up odd jobs you need. You will thank me if you do.

The rubber grip edge has strong chemical odor. I expect this will disipate over time but its annoying to open my grip bag and find this odor.
