Questions & Answers

JASON P : Is there a way to tighten the stud? Mine is wobbly. Thanks!BERNADETTE C : Jason, My Flashpoint Pro 9.5 Air Cushioned Stand did not and has not had any problems at all. Sounds like you need to exchange yours as there is no way for you to tighten a loose stud on top. Bernadette
ROBERT F : I don't like the 1/4" tip, is there a cap to make it 5/8"?McKenzie, S : I'm not sure I just use them as they come but you could always call customer service. Sorry I couldn't be of any help.RICHARD S : Doesn't come with it but should be readily available at hardware storesGEORGE L : If you're using the stand for a studio strobe, the stand will accommodate that. The 1/4"-20 does not get in the way. It does, however, come in handy for mounting off camera flashes, etc. This is a great stand! I have several.DANIEL T : Adorama sells an adapter, just search for this: WindTech M-7 1/4"-20 Female - 5/8"-27 Male Thread Adapter for Light Stand/Tripod I hope this helps!GARY K : Yes there is. 5/8th's is pretty much the universal standard on all photographic light stands. If you look at the image provided, the shiny part on top is 5/8" and the very top little black is a rubber cover to protect the 1/4" threads.
Cynthia C : I would like to use this with my Nikon Speedlight. Do I need to buy a shoe mount for this stand?PHILIP G : You will need a shoe or other device. These stands are more generally built for studio lighting and do not have speedlight accessories.NAZHIYATH V : I am able to mount my Nikon Speedlight 800 on this stand using the flat plastic base piece (Nikon AS-19) which came with the flash. The bottom of AS-19 has a thread which fits the thread on the stand.GEORGE L : Unless your flash unit came with one, you will need a cold shoe. THOMAS G : No you don't, you can use Nikon Speedlights own shoe which is included with the Speedlights SB 700 SB 800 SB 900 and SB 910.The Flaspoint 9.5' Lightstand is a great product well worth its price.JACK H : No, the light control of this kit is working independly to replace the conventional light bolb, can not be used as remote flash device. I like it because it can adjust the white balance in this kit.

Flashpoint 9.5' Lightstand

Decent stand for the price, it is air cushioned but it is a little flimsy. For travel it is nice because it is lightweight.

Good Lightstand for the money

I bought the soft box for the SB900 and needed a stand for it. Also, I liked to use umbrella where I had to and this stand is perfect for the job. It is pretty sturdy & rugged to handle the weight of the gears even at 9 Ft which is awesome for my need. The top stud is perfect for all my adapters. Over all I am pretty satisfied with this purchase. Reason for 4 stars is that the metal ends are cheap plastic inserts.

Much Better Than I Had Expected...

As an owner of several lightweight off camera flash light stands, and having very little experience using monolights, I had t think twice about buying a monolight on the cheap without a lightstand to support it. After some thought I opted to buy my monolight in the form of a kit with a flashpoint light stand an umbrella...VERY glad that I did, it is much better built than I thought that it would be and it is a very stable support for any of the lightweight to medium size monolights. I couldn't be more pleased!

Nice inexpensive stand

This stand was part of a lighting package deal. It exceeded expectations. Price vs. Product, I don't think you could beat it.

Flashpoint Light stand

I am not a professional photographer. I use the light stand with a Nikon SB910 flash and Pocketwizard to shoot pictures of humming birds. For me the stand is perfect. The extended height allows me get above the birds and the wide base keeps it steady.

Surprisingly good quality for this price

The only improvement I can think of would be the addition of turf spikes.

Flashpoint Lightstand

I am using this stand as a tripod for my GoPro camera. It is very sturdy and well-built and an absolute steal for the price! I am using it with the 1/4"-20 thread and it works wonderfully. The dark coating makes it inconspicuous on location work.

Good product, right price

This is a very good stand at the price that you just cannot beat. It's pretty sturdy and the fact that it's air cushioned makes it even nicer.

Great stand.

Great stand. Love the way it doesn't slam down. The air cushion lets each section drop down smoothly.

Not What I Thought

Wanted another heavy light stand, this is not it. While it has the height, it's built more like a medium duty stand. Disappointed, but will make do for now.

STURDY LIGHT STAND - METAL JOINTS

Very sturdy well built light stand. Some reviews say the joints are plastic.. not true... they are made of a cast metal and coated with a thick black paint or powdercoating. The only thing plastic are the tightening knobs that are attached to metal screw threads. Holds my Flashpoint M620 just fine.

Flashpoint 9.5' Lightstand

Bought a kit with two 9.5' lighstands, two Flashpoint II 620M monolights, a Flashpoint II DC battery power pack, a snoot, two umbrellas, a softbox, a lighting outfit case, and a lighting guide. Very happy. Came with all the cables. Everything is compatible. Easy to operate, and lots of fun! Don't hesitate. For the price, these tools are fabulous. You can't go wrong. Shot my first portrait within 6 hours of receipt!

Sturdy and Well Made

These stands are sturdy and well made. I use both for lights and background stands. With medium sized soft box or octa box the stand requires no weight bag. I use the stands exclusively in the studio so I can't speek to how well the stands hold up on location.

Good stand for my speedlight

I was looking for my first light stand for for my speedlight to get off camera lighting. This stand was just what I needed. The height (almost 10 feet) makes it easy for some overhead lighting shots.

Sturdy

The product is sturdy and worked out really well for my photography lighting. However, I wish the stand came with a base so I could get more uses out of the product. Between the light and the stand, there isn't much flexibility which is becoming an issue for me.

Does the Job

I got 2 of these to hold my flashes and umbrellas. They do the job, but feel weak. Even though they are holding just flashes and an umbrella, it makes me question if it won't collapse. But at 1/2 the cost, they do the job.

They aren't chrome but they are nice.

Is a great lightstand for flash photography. I tried using it as a background stand one day and it was not sturdy enough. If you plan to use this with studio strobes I would recommend not using them above 5-6 feet. They are not chrome they are aluminum only the mount at the top is chrome. This is an advantage and a disadvantage. If they were chrome they would weigh 3x as much and be 5x as sturdy. Being aluminum they are not as sturdy but are easy to drag around town with you all day which is what I wanted.
