Not worth it. Do not buy.

Flimsy and loose. Ball head keeps moving and umbrella and the light stand keep falling.

Flashpoint Modular Mini Ballhead with Umbrella Bracket

Seems to work.

Works for light duty.

Works well with a speedlight and small shoot through umbrella. I can't say I would trust it with a soft box the knobs are too small to really clamp it down. For a compact light weight mount it is good. I will likely buy another just keep in the bag.

Smallest multi-mount at a great price!

First, let me say what this ballhead is NOT good for. Although you COULD use its modular mount adapters to mount a camera on a tripod, it would perform poorly, especially with any camera larger than a compact. Likewise, it isn't designed to support a heavy flash with a medium to large modifier, or anything else with a lot of torque. What it IS phenomenally good at is giving you HUGE flexibility in a tiny, cheap package. If you're shooting on location with off-camera speedlights or LED panels, with moderate sized modifiers (like a 20" umbrella or softbox), this is a godsend. The modular pieces alone are a great kit for dealing with 1/4" and 3/8" screw mounts and ISO hotshoe mounts. The compact ball swivel mechanism adds just the right amount of additional flexibility to get your lights pointed in the right direction. Compared to any other piece of grip gear I have, it's by far the most bang for the buck I've spent! Best of all, it takes up virtually no room in the gear bag.

Unequal to the job it was made for.

I used this with a Nikon SB600 speedlight and a 30" silver umbrella. The speedlight didn't seat tightly and came loose and there's no way to tighten the shoe. WIth the umbrella in place, fully extended, the tightening screw cannot be tightened enough to hold it in position. The whole thing tips. The only way to use it with an umbrella is to let it slip until the ball joint props itself against the sleeve. Build quality is good for an item at this price, but it simply can't do the job. Look elsewhere.

Does the job and helps to direction flash easily

A must have product to easily direction your flash in any direction. The hole to use an umbrella is a plus.

Must have accessory

This little guy is- in my opinion- a must have accessory if you're shooting with off camera lighting. Speedlights, or even small strobes like the Evolv 200. I like the ability to move the light and umbrella/modifier 360 degrees, rather than most other style mounts that only tilt, and then you need to either loosen and turn the adapter, loosen a second of the stand and spin it, or pick up and turn the whole stand. Having a ball head adjustment just seems so much smarter and more efficient. At least as long as the light head isn't too heavy... The 1/4"x20 flash shoe adapter is plastic and a bit cheap feeling... but it works perfectly well, and I light the light weight of it, and it sounds funny but I like how flat it is- it's a nice little disc that fits nice in a pocket or in my bag if I'm not using it... I have a few other screw-to-shoe adapters that are taller and I find myself opting to bring this one over the others...

mini bullhead for flash

for the price, works well. One of them broke on the first shoot as due to wind blowing over stand with umbrella. I'm glad IT broke instead of my hot shoe mount on flash!

Only for small umbrellas

While this ballhead is fairly well made, it won't hold a 40 inch double layer (silver/black outer covering over white umbrella) very well. Too finicky, the umbrella shaft will be damaged because one needs to tighten it so hard, and the ballhead won't always hold. For smaller, lighter umbrellas, however, it should work well. Nice price. I'm going to use the two I bought for floor mounts when I need to hide a light behind a piece of furniture when shooting interiors.

Maybe for small umbrellas

Unfortunately the ball joint cannot hold the weight of my 60" umbrella except at very specific and unstable angles. Based on the reviews, I'm sure it's adequate for smaller sizes, but I'm reviewing it on my experience.

It does the job

It works for what I need. It attaches well on my tripod, and I can bend the flash if I need to.

It has a lot going on...

This is a little tool with a lot going on. That's both good and bad. It has attachments for both threaded and hot shoe mounts, and has the threaded top with umbrella bracket. The umbrella needs to be pretty light/small. The ball joint is a little sticky. The foot and ball joint both move. I'm not sure why the foot turns, but it's very difficult to have both the ball joint and foot loose at the same time. It's cost effective and small so I'm happy to have it in my kit.

Great ballhead, great price!

I picked this up to mount a micro clamp to the end of a pole. It works great! I like the fact that you can either thread a 1/4-20 or 3/8" into the bottom of it, and the top plastic cold shoe unthreads from the top, leaving you with a 1/4-20 thread to use. I haven't used the umbrella bracket portion yet, and it doesn't seem to be angled; it just goes straight through. I picked up three of these, and I'm glad I did.

Reasonable

I like this umbrella holder. The main reason I got it was because I wanted to be able to pack it into a small space, and this is the most streamlined one I saw. I'm very happy with it, but if I wasn't using them on the run, I'd go with one that had larger tightening devices. For my use this is perfect. Streamlined and compact.

Not Very Good

The ball mechanism used hold the desired angle is not very smooth to use, nor does it every seems to lock into place very well. It seems poorly constructed. Having the flash mount on top is nice, but my flashes came with their own adapters for attaching to light stands.

Great flash/umbrella holder.

The head of this holder can allow 360 degree rotation. This device can be attached to a light stand or tripod. The standard female hot shoe is made of plastic which prevents you from scratching the flash. The holder body is made of metal which is durable and steady.

There is a 3/8" tripod socket plus a ¼x20 tripod socket on the bottom of this item, so you can mount it on a tripod with ¼x20 or 3/8" . On the top there is a hot shoe flash mount, you can mount a Hot Shoe Flash on. There is a hole in this item so that you can insert an umbrella and align it with the flash.
