I bought this umbrella mainly because of the size and price. I planned to use it as a shoot thru with a small strobe. The size of it would allow me to fix the distance of the umbrella to the subject and vary the distance of the strobe to the umbrella to control the softness of the light. That has worked very well and I am pleased with the results I'm getting on a variety of subjects. As well as it works with the strobe indoors, the thing I really like about it is using it as a scrim outdoors. Regardless of how harsh the light is outdoors, placing this umbrella between the sun and your subject produces a beautiful light that looks far more natural than using a flash for fill. It also works beautiful as a fill reflector. Just be careful if there is any wind, its also a very big sail. Frankly the quality of the construction is better than I would have expected for the price. With a little care, it should last a long time.

I first got interested in the large umbrella when I watched a Mark Wallace episode on AdoramaTV. He demonstrated how you can stand in front of this big wrap around light and have no shadow on your subject and even illumination. It also can be used as diffused shade on a sunny day and as a large reflector. I have found it to be a very versatile tool for the price and it folds up compactly. One thing that I would like to see is a storage bag to put it in when not in use.

I've had this umbrella for over a week and have used it mostly in the studio for head shots. I like the nice even softness that allows me to work without a backlight.

The umbrella is pretty heavy, I recommend a very sturdy stand. It does not come with a protective sleeve so it is possible to get dirty easily. I tried to save the packaging as much as possible but it came ripped. Overall the umbrella works as expected, if using speedlights you'll definately need more than one to fill this with light.

Well, it's big but you know that already. It's also a wee bit fragile but then it's an umbrella and it's big. The stem may bend very easily but I'll figure out a way to make it sturdier for when an assistant holds it to diffuse the light from above the subject. I got this mainly to use with my Alien Bees (and I may need to get a 2nd one) indoors. I'll give it try outdoors (perhaps) but it's probably a recipe for disaster outdoors because it's an umbrella and it's BIG! Actually, for the price, I was pleasantly surprised how well made it is. If you need a big shoot-thru umbrella, this should work well for you!

This 68" umbrella provides a large diffused light when used as a "GOBO" in outdoor photography at high noon. It is easy to open and light to carry around. The construction appears and fells substanial so this umbrellas should hold up under steady use.

For the size, especially when it's opened, the rod (which is hollow) needs to be much stronger. I did not even get to use it once. Received it, opened it took it outside, mounted it on a stand similar to the one shown in photo. Weighted the stand down with at least 30 lbs. A very light breeze flipped it over, and the rod snapped in two. I'm trying right now to JB Weld the rod back together with an insert in the rod. May or may not work. If it does, it should be stronger than when it wasn't snapped in two. If not, probably won't buy a new one.

I was looking an umbrella to use like a filter the sun light... I use it to reduce the direct sun light with a tripod and it works perfect. Thanks

Flaspoint presents a quality parabolic umbrella with 16 ribs . It features a very precise front focusing device, and can also be used with HMI constant lighting.
The design of this quality umbrella results in a very high light efficiency. It allows the choice of directed light with high contrast to extremely soft light.
In comparison to a large area lamp the light stays constantly brilliant, shrouding the object like a cloud of light and "brings out" the structures wonderfully.
Due to the calculated parabolic shape of the umbrella, light fall off towards the edges is negligible.
