Dandy Device

The holder had to be re-assembled into the preferred orientation, and the cold shoe had to be modified (it wouldn't allow my Nikon flashes to lock securely)but otherwise the device does everything one could ask.

Most Liked Negative Review

SB900 Problems

The flash shoe mount does not work with Nikon SB900 Flash. Manufacture of the aluminum holder depth is to big for the flash.

Not Heavy Duty Enough

By

I bought this to use with my new 7' Parabolic Umbrella and it can't with stand the weight of the umbrella and flashes i attached to it. Luckily I had a Manfrotto swivel holder handy that could handle the load.

You get what you pay for!

It broke the very first time I used it. It was windy and the stand with the umbrella felt and that was it for the swivel holder. Since it is made of plastic, it broke clean in two pieces.

Precisely what I needed

By

from Schaumburg, IL  -  Pro Photographer

This thing is made like a tank! I have the ability to crank one of these little beauties out in my basement, but not at this price. This baby is so darn flexible you won't believe it. What I was using was garbage compared to this unit. You have total control of the amount of slippage you need for adjustment. Just take a good look at the quality of the brass inserts - WOW. Thanks Adorama - you did it again.

Solid Mount

By

from Pittsburg, CA  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Pretty good mount, do note that it is mostly plastic, a very hard plastic. It works as it should, it is very good quality, and a bit on the bulky side.

Good to have one in your bag

By

from Dominican Republic  -  Pro Photographer

It is very easy to use, and comes with a cold shoe for mounting a flash, which is very useful whenever you don't have an assistant with you. Seems very solidly built

Good enough bracket

By

from Concord, CA  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Well enough built bracket. I felt the screw which holds umbrella shaft is a bit weak for my 7 footer. Otherwise a good bracket.

Questions about this item:

WAYNE F  It's difficult for me to tell from the detail description, so I have to ask: Do either of the adapters included with this holder allow you to mount it to a tripod instead of a light stand? Thanks!
RICK C  Yes, the adaptor with female threads at each end, will allow you to mount the Umbrella bracket to a tripod and not just a light stand. The female threads are two different sizes to accommodate either end of the threaded pin/bolt on the tripod head.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ART G  I bought this unit after reading some online reviews. I wanted a convenient and inexpensive Umbrella Bracket/Flash Mount that also gets good marks for construction quality.
Katie T  What is the best flash to use in this and why? Thanks
ARTHER H  A great way to get flash off camera. using wireless flash to trigger my quantum or 580exii flash. swivel holder is mounted to a monopod and i use a shoot thru umbrella. good luck
