The Lumedyne UV coated protective glass dome (cylinder) can be used with any Standard Lumedyne flash head with a modeling light. It protects the flashtube and modeling light from damage during use and storage. It slightly "warms" the color temperature of the light emitted - an effect many photographers prefer when shooting portraits.
